My mom who is 62 and I have to give her her bath. And I know this sounds sick but she will have poop come up in the water that has been there for the day and she is full of sores. She will go to the bathroom and take poop out of her but and pee on her hand and try to give me the poop but she so does not understand what she is doing. And I think that is the worst thing for me is she does not get you do not do that. When I give her a bath and she laugh's and say's oh that is what has been there. When she was at my sister's house she put in her bathroom sink. Please help I have no idea how to deal with this.

thank you cheri

Best of luck, Cheri

cheri d,

I'm assuming that you bathe your mother in a bathtub. If so, it may be that your mother is confusing the bathing and toileting process. Perhaps you could try bed bathing your mother, and hence, break the association in her mind between bathing and toileting. It would send the message that bathing (and only bathing) occurs on a bed while toileting occurs exclusively on a toilet. There are no rinse soaps such as Septa-Soft that would enable you to do this. Please call us on our helpline if you'd like to discuss further.
