My mother suffers from vertigo occasionally. But, I am concerned that the systems are simliar to stroke in some ways. Can someone add comment about how to prevent a stroke when a patient has alzeimers?

Dear ronisobe,
Some basics considerations such as regular visits to the doctor, a healthy diet, regular blood pressure and cholesterol checks, and exercise can be essential in preventing a stroke for anyone, include people with Alzheimer’s disease. With regards to Alzheimer’s disease some of the common warning signs may be hard to detect depending on your mother’s ability to tell you how she feels. Please consult your mother’s physician regarding her particular risks and health issues. You can email the Alzheimer’s Association Green Field library at Greenfield@alz.org for any questions or information related to Alzheimer’s. To learn more information about strokes visit this website: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000726.htm Thank you for your participation on the Alzheimer's Association Online Community. Sincerely, Jaimie E. Alzheimer's Association Care Consultant |
