Sorry this is the only why I can describe it..

During the course of 2006 Mom's walking have rang from a shuffling gait to not walking ... to walking to shuffling gait to now walking in an ape like stance... has this happened to anyone's LO.. Mom's on seroquel, namenda, aricept, lexapro ( for a over 1 1/2year)..

I am stumped.

I’m setting up appointment with neurologist and she’s been seeing a geriatric psychiatrist.
Could this be Parkinson or reaction to the meds?

Confused, confounded, sick with worry...

Having a parent with Alzheimer's disease can feel overwhelming and even frightening at times. I can certainly understand your confusion and worry regarding the changes in your mother's mobility. Changes in balance and gait are common with this illness, as well as the shuffling that you have described. You are doing the right thing by consulting a neurologist to assure that there is not any other medical explanation for your mother's symptoms.

I am going to post this question on the Caregivers Forum for you so you can get feedback from others who may have experienced a similar situation with their loved one. It will be entitled "Issues with balance and gait". Feel free to contact us again if we can be of any further assistance.
