Does anyone know of a support group for people under 40 whose parents have been diagnosed with AD? I am 25, and my mother is in the last stage of AD, and I find very few people who can relate to this situation at my gae. Thanks!

Dear cfife05
Thank you for using the Alzheimer's Association Online Community. It must be frustrating to feel alone when you are the caregiver for someone with AD. The disease demands a lot of time and energy from you and it can sometimes drain the life that you want to live. You are doing the right thing by reaching out for support. It is important for every caregiver to receive lots of support from as many people as they can. I encourage you to continue to seek support from family and friends. In terms of support groups for caregivers under 40, I recommend you to contact your local chapter about it. Just dial the 800 number during business hours and you will be able to reach your area chapter and they will be able to best assist you. Good luck and I encourage you to call us on our 24-hour helpline if you just need to talk. Sincerely, Mini V. Alzheimers Association Care Consultant |
