I have been in touch with the helpline from alz.org & I have been talking to my GA chapter. She, as well as myself have left messages 4 the Ombudsman, at 2 different offices yesterday & today. Neither of us have recieved a call back from them. She even left a msg at the main office in Atlanta. My question is, what do I do at this point. I have already told the administrator at the NH that I do not have a place to put my dad & that I am coming up with nothing when trying to place him in another NH. Not 1 person at the NH my dad's being evicted from, has offered to help not 1 time. So, do I just wait until the deadline they gave me (which is tomorrow 11/4/09) & let them discharge dad to a hospital? I suppose thats all I can do at this point. Still amazes me that the NH is booting him out because he cant remember their smoking policy. He has moderate/severe AD & Dementia! His short-term is really shot. I mean c'mon! AND he got a cigerette & a light 4it, while in THEIR care.

We went to visit him tonight & the nurses were not friendly this time. They just kinda glared at us. Except 1 cna. She was just as sweet as always. This's so strange. The nurses generally speak or joke w/my dad.... tonight they just walked by like he didnt exsist. I dont know why this's happening, but they should be ashamed of themselves for behavior like this. He is such a sweet man.

Hello Jeffnkel, I saw your other post on the same topic. Since your situation is so urgent, I'm going to re-post your question on the Caregiver board. Many experienced people visit that board and will have advice for you.

Do not accept your father at home if you cannot care for him adequately there. In my state, (CA) it is illegal for a facility to dump a patient without a place to receive him.

Look for your name in the Caregiver board (third from the top).
