I got bumped off the site and could not get in even though my e-mail was accepted. I finally re applied for membership with a slightly new sign in name. What was the problem?

Meeko, there have been a number of technical glitches lately. The online administrators are working very hard with the computer wizards to get them fixed. In my discussions with them, they have been very apologetic for the inconvenience and if anything are more frustrated with it than we are.
How smart of you to find a work-around to be able to get on anyway. In most cases, if you just wait 10-15 minutes and try again, all goes smoothly. But I worry about people who just give up.
