Cognisure (Colostrinin or CLN) has been published in another magazine.
They have confirmed that Colostrinin/Cognisure can have an effect on Tau and Plaque. I am not aware of any other AD treatment that can do this...rember can only control one of them. Good stuff, and you can buy it as a nutra..the pharma version may take until 2012 though, but it is being developed so I understand. ------------------------------------------- 4 December 2008 ReGen Therapeutics Plc <AIM:RGT, OTCQX:REGUY> Full Results of Study Showing how ReGen's Colostrinin* achieves its Clinical effect Published in Peer-reviewed Journal ReGen Therapeutics Plc ("ReGen" or the "Company"), is pleased to announce that the full results of this genomic microarray study, which was first reported as part of ReGen's Interim Results statement issued on the 23rd September 2008, has now been published on-line ahead of availability in print by the peer-reviewed journal International Immunopharmacology. We emphasise two key points of the article. Firstly, Colostrinin* can favourably modulate the expression of several molecules involved in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease - upregulation of bleomycin hydrolase, downregulation of APP and effect on Tau phosphorylation. Given that Alzheimer's is a complex disease, the multi-faceted action shown by Colostrinin* is significant. Secondly, Colostrinin* also modulates other molecules involved in biological pathways associated with other conditions such as obesity and allergy. ReGen's Chairman and Chief Executive, Percy Lomax said: "For a long time ReGen has had compelling experimental and clinical data that suggest Colostrinin* achieves its clinical effect and support our belief that it is one of the first compounds with the potential to impact both Tau tangles and beta amyloid plaques, the two key pathologies of Alzheimer's disease. Publication of the research will be a useful tool in the further commercialisation of the product". The abstract of this study is reproduced below. The text of the full article (charged) is now available at: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ by searching on the name of the first author. Study Abstract: Effects of Colostrinin on gene expression-transcriptomal network analysis. Szaniszlo P, German P, Hajas G, Saenz DN, Woodberry MW, Kruzel ML, Boldogh I. Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, United States. Colostrinin (CLN) is a uniform mixture of low-molecular weight proline-rich polypeptides isolated from the mother's first milk, colostrum. Exposure of cells to CLN decreases intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species by regulating glutathione metabolism and modulating activities of antioxidant enzymes and mitochondrial function. It also inhibits beta amyloid-induced apoptosis and induces neurite outgrowth of pheochromocytoma cells. Administration of CLN to Alzheimer's disease patients has resulted in a stabilizing effect on cognitive function. We analyzed CLN-induced gene expression changes using high-density oligonucleotide arrays and transcriptomal network analysis. We found that CLN elicited highly complex and multiphasic changes in the gene expression profile of treated cells. CLN treatment affected a total of 58 molecular networks, 27 of which contained at least 10 differentially expressed genes. Here we present CLN-modulated gene networks as potential underlying molecular mechanisms leading to the reported effects of CLN on cellular oxidative state, chemokine and cytokine production, and cell differentiation, as well as on pathological processes like allergy, asthma, Alzheimer's, and other neurological diseases. Based on our results, we also predict possible modulatory effects of CLN on adipocytokine gene networks that play a crucial role in the pathobiology of diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, obesity, and inflammation. Taken together, CLN-altered gene expression networks presented here provide the molecular basis for previously described biological phenomena and predict potential fields of application for CLN in the prevention and treatment of diseases. Hi - You can buy Cognisure/Colostrinin as a Nutraceutical. It was launched in the USA last last year and Europe a couple of months ago (as Cognase)
If you enter Cognisure into Google, it will bring up various suppliers. I have used the one below in the past which is based in the USA (spinelife). I have posted a second US supplier below which has an interesting article on the brain plaque. http://spinelife.stores.yahoo.net/co30tc.html https://www.alzheimersupdate.info/CogniSure_detail.html However, as I live in England, they now stock it in Europe which is the link below which sells in Euros. It has interesting info about the product too. http://www.healthybrainaging.com/index.html Hope this helps! Rosie UK |
Cognisure
Cognisure sounds a lot like a purported anti-aging supplement that was all the rage a few years ago. It was made from colostrum and was supposed to raise levels of human growth hormone (HGH). (HGH tends to fall off as we age). I used it for a while and had my blood level checked before and after. There was actually a slight decrease in my HGH after! For what its worth......maybe I'm wrong. My memory is not as good as it had been then either! john1943 my_pal_john@yahoo.com (Retired auto engineer and caregiver). |

Hello everyone,
I've not heard about the other Colostrum related product. Colostrinin Cognisure's natural name is PRP or Proline Rich PolyPeptide. Cognisure/Colostrinin is definately new, only lanuching last year so I am sure it's not connected. There are a lot of colostrum related products. I use Colostrum for colds and sore throats, but it's no good for AD! I have been taking Cognisure for over a year now, and I do notice an improvement in my concentration & memory. I have also found it helps with anxiety and depression - a bit of a chill pill, but thats my own personal experience. It would be good to hear other peoples views once they have tried it for a few months. Rosie UK |

First stage peptide studies
12/03/2009 ReGen announces successful first stage of peptide studies for Alzheimer's disease and obesity ReGen Therapeutics Plc ('ReGen' or the 'Company'), (AIM: RGT) announced in the Autumn of 2007 that a microarray analysis of peptides derived from Colostrinin™ at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), had shown that certain peptides had a capacity to change gene expression in areas involved in obesity and Alzheimer's disease. It was therefore decided to explore certain peptides further with a view to developing them to the status of pre-clinical candidates. ReGen can now announce the success of the first stage. Alzheimer's disease In an in-vitro study using neuronal cells two synthetic peptides (RG-01 and RG-018) have shown significant impact on expression of genes involved in beta-amyloid generation and degradation pathways. Controlling beta-amyloid generation could have important implication in Alzheimer's disease. Currently the efficacy of these peptides is being evaluated in an in-vivo study using a humanised APP knock-in mouse model. Anti-obesity In an in-vivo study on obesity Colostrinin™, as well as three peptides in combination, have been shown to significantly reduce the body weight gain of mice when fed a high fat diet (HFD). Brief scientific details are available in Note 1. Commenting on these findings ReGen Chairman and CEO Percy Lomax said 'These preliminary results are very encouraging. Although they need to be confirmed and further evaluated they seem to support our long held belief that peptides derived from Colostrinin may have utility as pharmaceutical or nutraceutical compounds in their own right. Alzheimer's is a poorly treated disease and obesity is becoming a much larger problem in the developed world. Studies continue but we are in early stage discussions with a potential development partner for the commercial development of the peptides.' Note 1: Ten months of feeding mice with HFD resulted in a significant increase in body weight compared with mice kept on a regular diet (p< 0.001). Colostrinin administration to mice fed with HFD resulted in a significantly lower body weight (p < 0.001). When administered separately, three peptides (RG-02, RG-09 and RG-018) had no significant effect. However, administration of these three peptides in combination resulted in a significantly lower body weight gain (p<0.05). Rosie UK |

After doing a Google search on Colostrinin (Cognisure) I foud the below patent. It shows other areas that Cognisure/Colostrinin can help, other than with AD, including improvement in mood for those with depression, which may be of interest.
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6852700/description.html Examples of neurological disorders that can, with advantage, be treated by Colostrinin include dementia, and also disorders that cause dementia, such as neurodegenerative disorders. Neurodegenerative disorders include, for example, senile dementia and motor neurone disease; Parkinson's disease is an example of a motor neurone disease that can be treated with Colostrinin. Colostrinin has been found particularly effective in the treatment of the neurodegenerative disease known as Alzheimer's disease. Examples of mental disorders that can, with advantage, be treated by Colostrinin include psychosis and neurosis. For example, the Colostrinin may be used to treat emotional disturbances, especially the emotional disturbances of psychiatric patients in a state of depression--the use of Colostrinin has been found to help the patient with an improvement in feelings of wellbeing and with mood stabilisation. The Colostrinin may also be used as an auxiliary withdrawal treatment for drug addicts, after a period of detoxification, and in persons dependent on stimulants. In another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the Colostrinin is for use in the treatment of disorders of the immune system, particularly chronic disorders of the immune system. Thus, we have found that Colostrinin can be used in the treatment of disease requiring immunomodulation. In particular, we have found that Colostrinin is useful for treating such disorders in non-rodent animals, including humans. Colostrinin is useful in the treatment of a variety of diseases with an immunological and infectious basis. For example, the Colostrinin can be used to treat chronic diseases with a bacterial and viral aetiology, and to treat acquired immunological deficiencies that have developed, for example, after chemotherapy or radiotherapy of neoplasms. The invention is particularly useful for treating chronic bacterial and viral infections requiring non-specific immunostimulation and immunocorrection. Rosie UK |

Some research published this month showing how Colostrinin/Cognisure can prevent Alzheimer's
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19536420 1: J Nutr Health Aging. 2009 Jul;13(6):522-7.Links The Protective Effects of the Nutraceutical, Colostrinin, against Alzheimer's Disease, is Mediated via Prevention of Apoptosis in Human Neurones Induced by Aggregated beta-Amyloid.Douraghi-Zadeh D, Matharu B, Razvi A, Austen B. B. Austen, Neurodegeneration Unit, Basic Medical Sciences, St. George's, University of London, Cranmer Terrace, Tooting, London SW17 0RE. Tel: 0208 725 5651; Fax: 0208 725 3594; E-Mail: sghk200@sghms.ac.uk. Objective: It has previously been demonstrated that oral administration of ovine Colostrinin (CLN), a proline-rich polypeptide isolated from ovine colostrum, can effectively treat Alzheimer's disease patients. This study aims to determine whether CLN has effects on the aggregation and toxicity of synthetic beta-amyloid (Abeta), implicated as a causative agent of AD. Design and measurements: Using cell assays, we examined if pre-treatment of neuronal cells with CLN confers protection. Results: The data from cytotoxicity assays (using MTT and LDH) demonstrated that pre-treatment of human neuronal SHSY-5Y cells with 5 mug/ml CLN, for 24 hours, confers neuroprotection against Abeta-induced neurotoxicity. Twenty-four hour pre-treatment with 5 mug/ml CLN was also shown to reduce Abeta 1-40-induced apoptosis in human neuronal cells as determined via qualitative and quantitative apoptosis assays. Conclusion: The neuroprotection conferred with CLN pre-treatment was reduced with the Fas ligand (FasL) binding antibody Nok1, suggesting that the effects of CLN may involve a Fas:soluble FasL interaction. These findings indicate that CLN could possibly play a role in the prevention of AD pathogenesis, though the inhibition of Fas-mediated apoptosis. I live in England, and Colostrinin/Cognisure has been launched here as "Memory Aid"
This was in the news this week. It is lime flavour, rather than chocolate and a smaller tablet. It does the same stuff, like reduce plaque in the brain as it is the same ingredients. I am still getting benefits of taking these products (Colostrinin/Cognisure/MemeoryAid) for over 3 years now. Kind regards 28th September 2009 PRG Nutraceuticals Ltd Launches MemoryAid in United Kingdom PRG Nutraceuticals Ltd (‘PRG’) announces that it has launched “MemoryAid”, its nutraceutical product containing a proline-rich polypeptide complex that maintains normal mental function and supports healthy brain ageing. Announcing the launch, PRG Managing Director Dr Peter Garrod said:- “Every day we hear more evidence of how the population faces a terrible future as our brains become increasingly affected by conditions associated with getting old. MemoryAid contains a complex that we believe will help people to fight the onset of the problems that result from our brains undergoing the normal ageing process. Many years of research into the complex has shown that it promotes antioxidant activity, can reduce the toxicity of beta amyloid and protects the brain against the damaging effects of free radicals, all of which manifest themselves in the problems that occur as our brains naturally age. The complex has also been shown to increase the average lifespan of living cells and reduces premature ageing, which will also benefit consumers. MemoryAid is targeted at a wide spectrum of people, both the older community, who may already be noticing that their brains are not functioning in the manner they are normally accustomed to, and at younger adults, who just want to protect themselves against memory deterioration in the future. We are very excited by the benefits of MemoryAid and believe that it has a bright future on everyone’s breakfast table.” MemoryAid is available on the internet at www.memoryaid.com or by contacting PRG on 01580 891349 or mobile 07785 740421. MemoryAid Support for healthy brain ageing Maintains normal mental function and supports healthy brain ageing. Increases the average lifespan of living cells. Reduces the aggregation and toxicity of beta amyloid, a feature of neurodegenerative conditions. Protects the brain against the damaging effects of many free radicals Rosie UK |
