When you stop and think about it why wouldn't men respond? They are fathers and grandfathers after all. You can return the love they have given you over the years. Have any of you given a lifelike doll to a loved one? What response did you get? Share your experience. View dolls4alzheimers.com

Males do not touch "dolls." However,"action figures" are different.

For example, GI Joe in NOT a doll!! He's an action figure!! I never played with dolls!! It's an ACTION FIGURE!!!

(Have to stop now, tongue too firmly in cheek)

Lots of daddy's and pappas spent years holding their little "dolls" They hung their GIJOES and left many a barbie headless. So actually it is the paternal instinct that the dolls set off.

I just found your site on the web for your dolls. I work for a rehabilitation home,,,in the alzeheimer dept. I see what dolls can do for the patients and would like very much a doll for one particular lady who just loves babies and dogs,,,she has a dog now that is a stuffed dog of coarse and she actually told me the other day it had a heart attack and died,,,I immediately got my imagination working and went over and looked at her puppy dog in her arms and said,,,but Anita,,,the dog's eyes are open,,,Why don't you let me just take her for you and go to the vet and see if he can help her,,,So she said,,,,Well,,,ok,,,so I took the dog,,,went downstairs found a basket and a little blanket ,,,,and a toy! lol,,,put the dog in the basket and a little later went up and said,,,The vet said,,,,she didn't have a heart attack,,,,he said she just does not feel good and so he gave her a shot,,put her in the basket and gave her a little toy,,,,and said keep her in the basket til tomorrow ,,,,,she should be better then,,,,,So the little lady,,,took the basket,,put it on her lap,,,said ok,,,I saId I am so glad I took her to the doctor,,,,she said I am too,,,

The next day,,,I came into work,,,she was sitting in the hallway with the basket on her lap and the dog was still in it,,,I asked how she was doing,,,She said well,,I don't think she is better today so I am going to leave her in here,,,I said well,,maybe two days,,later on that afternoon ,,,I went over to the dog ,,picked it up,,,,loved it and wagged its tail with my fingers,,,I sAid Anita,,I think that she feels better already,,,look her little tail is wagging,,,,That did it,,,she took her in her arms and just held it ever so tightly and started talking to the dog telling it she was so glad it felt better,,,

This is just a sample of a little story with Alzeheimer patients,,,but it is priceless,,,If you have a doll,,,I would love to buy one from you for the facility,,,I caN give you the details in another email after I hear from you ,,,Will that be ok? Thank you so much,,,,

I wanted to share this letter I received because it shows how fast thinking can rescue a
painful situation. It is so important to be able to put yourself in your loved ones shoes and what you would say to your child if you were the mother.
