I just got back from the Alzheimer's Association's Public POlicy Forum in D.C and I am feeling so empowered! There are such good things being requested/demanded/done in the association and in the government. Even one of my republican congressmen took time to meet personally and took our requests to heart.
The candlelight vigil (got some press) was amazing to be a part of, emotional but strengthening at the same time. And hands down, I am in love with Maria Shriver and her work. Stay tuned for her co-produced documentary, "The Alzheimer's Project" on HBO mid-May. My point is that there are (hopefully!!!) good things to come in research and medicare reform. Keep on those in public office! I am blessed to have been a part of this. |

Mel, I just started to read the National Alzheimer's Strategic Plan, released at a hearing before the US Senate Special Committee on Aging on March 25.
Copies of the Strategic Plan, and written testimonies of its members Sandra Day O'Connor, Newt Gingrich, and Bob Kerrey can be downloaded at: http://www.alzstudygroup.org/ It looks as if all the hard work that people like you are doing may actually pay off. Wow. |

Dear Mel,
I'm sorry we didn't meet in D.C. You are right in that a lot of good things are going on. But don't stop pushing for more!! The candlelight vigil was sad and inspiring. The shared stories, the music, the songs, the Lincoln Memorial! Wow! It almost took my breath away. Thanks for being part of the cure! Peace and Hope, Lisa check out my blog @ http://lcc-thoughtsfromtherollercoaster.blogspot.com/ |
