There is a thread about this. Look for "Infrared". Water and people are apparently transparent at this particular wavelength of infrared light, I think it's 1072nm. I think of it like shining red light at a glass of cherry jello. The red would get through, but if you shine a green light through it, it wouldn't.

Anyway... I was looking for a source for the 1072nm "near infrared" (NIR) light emitting diodes, but could only find very expensive ones from a distributor in Europe.

The inventors of this helmet think that brain tissue by be stimulate to grow new neurons. I kind of put this idea on the back burner when I read that both lithium and curcumin may do the same thing.
