My husband taking aricept and please tell me what the side effect are? George is losing weight and has diarra..no appetite..
Pu t him in hospital after taking 10mg a day lot of sleeping.
Don't think he will ever get his streight back.or his weight..if he continue taking the aricept...JOY

Your husband sounds like he's unable to tolerate to Aricept! GI side effects are very common. I suffered with them until my doctor told me about a medication that worked like aricept but I didn't have to take it by mouth! It's called exelon and it comes in "patch" form. I just apply 1 patch every 24H! It has been working well for me and I don't have the stomach ache and diarrhea! Please, talk with your husband's doctor about this medication ASAP!!

My mom couldn't tolerate Aricept either. She was on it (only 5mg) for 11 days and it literally just about killed her. Constant diarrhea, nausea, weakness...so much so she could barely walk!

She is now on Razadyne ER (8mg) and is doing great! None of the previous side effects at all! And her strength bounced back...she's back to her "normal" self again!

My mother tried aricept for about 3 days, she had more severe side affects. She lost control of her bladder at bed time, and had hallucinations of bugs everywhere. The strange part was that she wasn't scared of the bugs, she was actually trying to show my dad the ones that were in her hand. Needless to say, we stopped giving her the aricept, and she is now on no alzheimers medication, so she is progressing naturally through this disease.

My wife has been taking Aricept for about 18 months. She has developed two new symptoms. A "burning mouth" and major sinus pain. Our dentist and 2 Drs. have not found any cause for these problems. Has anyone observed side effects like these from Aricept?
