I came across this article today and for those living in or near Eatontown, NJ, here is your chance to find out more about the Enbrel treatment. It was written by Dr. Joel Ross who runs the "Memory Enhancement Center" in Eatontown, NJ and this is what he had to say about Dr. Tobinick.

"California MD, Dr.Tobinick reports significant benefit with novel treatment for AD sufferers
By Dr. Joel Ross | April 21, 2008

Edward Tobinick, MD is an attending physician at a highly respected medical institution in California. I first met Dr. Tobinick at the Annual Alzheimer’s Disease Drug Discovery Conference held in New York City November 2006. He presented a case of an Alzheimer’s Disease victim who was given an injection in the nape of the neck containing an FDA approved medication used for rheumatoid arthritis, known as Embrel.

The patient had a rather remarkable improvement according to the doctor and caregivers. Such a response he reported had occurred in many others. This caught the attention of national news channels with even CNN and their resident doctor, Sanjay Gupta, MD giving it some coverage.

What is the Alzheimer’s disease patient, their loved ones, Alzheimer’s Disease societies and the treating physician to make of these claims.

1. The results must stand the test of a double blind placebo controlled study.

2. Patients who have had such a remarkable response should be most willing or at the least their loved ones should be willing to speak with prospective patients and their families. I have had now over a dozen family members ask me about this treatment. Everytime they try to find a satisfied and treated patient Dr. Tobinick’s office does not divulge this information.

The cost to the patient is 5000 dollars and the treatments are only given in his facility in California. They are adminstered each week over a course of 12 weeks for a total of 12 injections.

I can say that if these results are indeed reproducible and the treatments have little toxicity it would be time for many Alz Dz sufferers to consider going to see Dr. Tobinick. However, until I can be assured of the data and results it would be best perhaps to wait for a better well designed clinical study to come to the forefront. Such studies are being conducted at our Memory Enhancement Center of America, Eatontown,NJ".

Enbrel is getting the foothold it deserves. Good luck all,

Jeanne

Wow Jeanne! Where did you find this? Is it on the internet? I will make a point to contact the author and give him my point of view. I hope all the other AD Enbrel patients will too!

I dug a little deeper and he actually is part of the BAP study! Sneaky guy, trying to get our hopes up! I sent him a nice long e-mail about Mom before I knew it, I hope he reads it. If he meant what he said in that article, then he should contact me and read the board like I asked him to! He wanted testimonials, here they are!
