FYI-JUST FOUND TYLENOL PM COMES IN A LIQUID FORM. MY DAD HAS TROUBLE SWALLOWING THE CAPSULES (IF YOU CAN GET HIM TO TAKE THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE) HIS DOCTOR RECOMMENDED THE TYLENOL TO HELP HIM SLEEP AT NIGHT.

My mother can't take Tylenol - pm or otherwise. She is up all night. Elderly can't take sleeping meds - has the opposite effect.
I am interested in whether this works for you and, if you don't mind, the age of your father. I know melatonin works - I have beaten the subject to death. However, I would like to know whether we are the only ones with a problem with Tylenol particularly Tylenol PM.
Thanks
Pat

Be very careful with over-the-counter meds combined with Alheimer meds. I got very sick from a little Benedryl and an elderly patient might not be able to explain the confusion and stomach pain. I caught on while driving and was able to pull over. This was a day after the last pill.

Benedryl is not on my list for any reason, at any time. We take drugs, supplements, even vitamins one at a time and evalutate the impact. Less is always better....Pat

I just meant the Benadryl and Tylenol PM have the same ingredient that causes drowziness. Other websites warn against both of them with Alzheimer meds.

Good advice for all. You are probably significantly younger than my mother -90- so different strokes....Always good to know the age breakdowns. With elderly, drowsiness with a mild drug at night would be welcome but just doesn't happen. Problem is, opposite occurs. With younger people, like yourself, its good to know these drugs should not be mixed with AD drugs. Thanks!

Benedryl, the incredient in tylenolPM, AdvilPM, Nyquil, etc. that helps sleep is an antihistmine. First used to treat hay fever and allergies. In most people it will cause drowsiness and help to sleep. My wife will take it anytime of day or night and within 20 minutes she is fast asleep. It has the opposite effect on me...I can't sleep, and makes me nervous. So one pill at bedtime, one day at a time, and see how it affects your LO. Take care.
