Hello all, I am new here. My father was taking Aricept and Namenda at night but had to switch the Aricept to the AM due to all the nightmares an walking around, hallucinations. I have one question, my parents are still married and live together. They both work (family business). They have medicare and then the the coverage for the meds. They were just told that they have a $2500 max. It will only cover him through May. After that, it's all out-of-pocket. That's almost $600 a month for the meds. They can't pay that. How does everybody else do it?
Any other insurances to get, they have "AdvantraRX". Has anybody ordered generics from Canada? Are they reliable? Thank you all, Mariana |

I don't know about generics from Canada, but I have been buying my prescription eyedrops for glaucoma through a Canadian pharmacy for several years. You can even do a price comparison for the same drug from different countries, and then specify the one you want to order from:
http://www.pharmacychecker.com/ I've been getting the best prices through: http://www.CrossBorderPharmacy.com/ The savings have deteriorated somewhat since the dollar lost value, but I'm still finding major price differences among countries (and also within the U.S.). --C |

I just wanted to let you know canadian drugs are great..my dad had the same problem of being in the coverage gap, so after checking many plans and canadian sites we were able to go to $450 a month to $425 for 3 months. All the drugs were of course generic but there have not been any problems with them. It is kind of a pain getting started and you have to plan ahead some drugs take a couple of weeks but I believe it is well worth it. Also have you checked Walmart? 3 of his meds are now only $4 there. Checkout GetCanadianDrugs.com I found them to be the cheapest. Good Luck;-0

My Mom has been on Alz meds, Namenda and the exelon patch for almost 2 years. This year they have hit the Medicare Gap and my Dad has been looking in to Canadian generics. They list generics for both drugs at a much cheaper cost. However, when comparing at local U>S. pharmacies, we were told Razadyne is the only drug that has a generic. We are considering switching from the exelon but want to keep her on the Namenda as she seems stable but loosing some ground. Does anyone know if the geneic Namenda available from Canada is as good? thanks for any info anyone has.

My father has been taking the generics from Canada since I originally posted this question. He takes as much as he can buy through the US/insurance and the rest he buys from Canada (including the Plavix generic). I would have to say that they are working fine. He has hit a steep decline this year but I wouldn't say that is due to the generics. His cardiologist actually gets his own meds from Canada so that was good enough for me.

Pamela, be very, very, very sure that the company from which you buy is legitimate and actually located in Canada. There are a lot of rip-off companies online that claim to be Canadian but are not, and sell fake meds.
