My DH has been having disturbing dreams, scary ones. This is new and nothing has changed as far as meds are concerned. It is usually the same dream. He is talking to someone he doesn't know and they will not tell him their name. Has anyone else experienced this? He is on Aricept, Lexapro, aspirin, and has been in a Dimebon trial since April. Nothing new. Any ideas..should I call his neurologist? He has a regular appointment in mid-October. Thanks.

Hi whitney,

I also have AD and I was on Aricept. I too had disturbing dreams. Some of them were very voilent. I would tell my daughter in law about them and she would gasp.

She called my doctor and I went for a check up and mentioned my dreams to the doctor. After we discussed the content of some of the dreams, the doctor took me off of Aricept and put me on Namenda. I still have dreams but they are nicer ones now.

Whitney,
My LO had the same scarey dreams until we added Seroquel to his meds. It was at that time he was dianosed with Lewy Body, similiar to AD but different. If you want more info on LBD please contact me...Best to you,

Jeanne

Hi, Whitney. You have reported the dreams to the dimebon study director, right?

Are you still giving your husband MCT Fuel? On another thread, JDM mentioned that she's read that coconut oil / MCT oil can cause vivid dreams.

Thanks for answering my post. DH has been on Aricept for over 2 years, Dimebon (or placebo) since April.
I did report the dreams to the study director. Yesterday he was complaining of pain in his back and I took him to PC physician. Xrays show major arthritis in his back. He was put on pain medication (checked this out with Dimebon director) and he has rested much better. He didn't have that dream last night and hopefully will not tonight. He had a long nap this afternoon and said he slept better than he had in a long time.

JAB, that was great! I didn't think it was Aricept or the Dimebon/placebo after all this time but its good to have this place to come to and ask questions!! He slept soundly last night and had another long nap today.

JAB, is your DH on the actual Dimebon yet? My husband will start the last of this month.
