I am very new to this kind of service, but am eager to wade in. I have a mother (73) in very early memory loss and a husband (65) with ptsd mental illness. I am 54. I have worked professionally with folks with Alzheimer's & Dementia for many years and that may help me in dealing with the years to come. However, I don't want to be isolated in caring for them.
I am unable to find meaningful work that uses my skills and pays a living wage where I now live and we three are all thinking we would like to move nearer to others in our extended family. I would like to be in Oregon where Death with Dignity laws are in place (based on my father recently dying not in the way he would have chosen.) My mother has some real estate capital and I have credit and work skills that we would like to transport to SW Oregon. Perhaps start up an Adult Foster Home, or at least find a home for the three of us where I could work in the field and have caregiver support group, Alz Association, a senior center (for Mom), thrift stores (for him) and places to swim (for my final sanity.) Anyone got anything to add to my soup? We are looking at being on our way in two years. Lots of stuff to deal with here and some schooling still for me. Alice Robb Alice (Turtle) Robb |

Alice, I too am new to this service. I read your note and wanted to know if you know about Senior Move Managers. You might want to visit the NASMM website. They provide help to seniors who are relocating our right-sizing their homes. I recently opened a company in Coeur d'Alene and thought you might be interested in reading about us and perhaps opening your own company in Oregon. With your background, you would be very helpful to families that are making the decision to move out of their homes. Working with people who are suffering from Dementia or Alheimer's is valuable skill and many people could benefit from your experience.
Hope this helps. Cheryl Carriere CRTS A Life's Move, LLC www.alifesmove.com cherylc@alifesmove.com 208-639-1306 |
