i am here for support!!!! we lost my gram almost 2 years ago now to alzheimers. so after seeing her suffer for almost 5 years with it, was a very hard thing to go through, especially at the end. now i am worried about my mom. she is showing all the signs that i have seen on this web site. she's so very forgetful. my dad quit his job to stay home with her for fear of something being left on to catch fire or something worse.
she wanted to go to a doctor for an exam so i made one for her, she canceled. how do i get her to get an exam. i used to live 3 hours away from my folks but decided to move to the same city so i can be closer for help for them. any advice would be great thanks roxanne h bangor maine |

Hi roxymh and welcome,
I'm sorry for what brings you here. Have you and your Dad tried to sit down calmly and talk with your Mom about your concerns? Is your Mom under a doctor's care? Could she be very depressed? Perhaps your Mom is afraid of knowing if she has Alz.? Do you have a local ALZ chapter near you? Perhaps you could get some additional information from them? Did you ask your Mom why she canceled her appointment? Your a wonderful daughter to have moved back close to your folks! Good Luck Please keep me posted. Peace and Hope, Lisa |

my mom has told my dad she knows something is wrong...it's like you said she is afraid to find out what she probably already knows. no she isn't under a doctor's care because she tells me there is nothing wrong but i can see it everyday. yes i am going to be finding an alz group here.
thanks for "listening" roxanne h bangor maine |
