Dear Honorable Newt Gingrich and Committee Members:


I attempted to contact The Honorable Sandra Day O'Connor yesterday after learning about the Alzheimers' hearing in Washington. My heart goes out to Mrs. O'Connor and her husband and anyone else who is an Alzheimers' patient, caregiver, family member, friend or associate of an Alzheimers' patient.


I have well over a decade of personal experience both from acting as caregiver for my husband and also having been diagnosed with pre-senile dementia myself many years ago. My diagnosis preceded use of the term "EOAD" or "Early Onset Alzheimers' Disease."


It is the job of your committee and others to quote statistics and to promote research that will hopefully begin to reduce the enormous costs to our overburdened Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).


As a non-accredited EMF/EMR (electromagnetic field/electromagnetic radiation) researcher, victim and activist (18 years), it is my purpose to inform your committee and the public that there are many things that can be done to help accomplish the goals mentioned above by taking a stand against dishonest government and sharing the knowledge that exists but which is being minimized and outrightly "concealed" from the people.

I will be pleased to help your committee gather and coordinate studies that support the link between childhood Leukemia, Alzheimers, autism-spectrum disorders, Parkinsons, M.S. and more in regard to close, chronic, prolonged night/bedroom exposures and related studies regarding close, chronic, prolonged EMF/EMR occupational exposures. We can not afford "business as usual....!" We must have "change ....!" We can not afford to wait even one day longer before recommending the public take action to reduce nighttime close, chronic, prolonged electric field exposures and also to begin recommending melatonin supplementation.


We must put public health ahead of special interest monies -- particularly "Big Pharma," the telecommunications' industry and electrical entities who so far have been successful in controlling the minds and actions of those with the ability and knowledge to begin to slow down the chaos that is the result of the status quo!


Please help me help others by providing a means for me to share the stories re my family's experiences regarding close, chronic, prolonged bedroom electric field exposures. I have documented dramatic improvement regarding rare immune deficiencies in our two grandsons that involved precancerous conditions -- "pre-Leukemic." My husband and I are more likely than not the only husband and wife combination in the entire world who have both improved in spite of dreaded "Alzheimers' diagnosis!" The Leukemia drug, Gleevec, was or is being considered as a potential treatment for Alzheimers. That information alone should be enough to convince anyone that existing reearch and knowledge is such that we can no longer keep vital facts from the people.


The reports I read on the Alzheimers' Caregiver's message board are very alarming! Even the inability to achieve proper sleep -- a seemingly simple expectation for all -- is an impossible situation for both patients and caregivers alike! There is so much research available regarding the benefits of melatonin -- not only for sleep but re mood and overall behavior and well-being, that I am not providing any links in this particular email. As I mentioned above, I am glad to furnish you with a listing of studies that include hundreds of references upon request. Electric fields reduce the pineal gland's ability to produce one's own melatonin. Low levels of melatonin are found in Alzheimers' patients as well as patients identified as suffering "autism-spectrum disorders." Autism, as you most likely know, is also increasing by leaps and bounds!


For the Alzheimers' patient, the inability to sleep -- which can be caused by sleeping close to an electric meter or an appliance's electric field -- can be the beginning of a very serious downward spiral that includes agitation and anger, wandering, delusions and hallucinations and ends up with calls for emergency assistance with the patient being hauled off to a locked ward and turned into a zombie by incapacitating, dangerous medications! That patient may never return to his or her home. He or she will most likely join the burgeoning numbers of helpless, hopeless individuals wasting away in a nursing home at taxpayers' expense.


I have requested to testify before Congress numerous times. Usually I receive no response. Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman sent me a letter stating I would need others to join me in order for him to arrange for me to testify.


The world needs honest, brave persons to take a "stand for change" but we also need persons with enough prestige and celebrity to break through the media "wall of silence." General Electric owns and/or is in the process of selling NBC........ No one wins when free speech is stifled or more appropriately, "stamped upon!"


On behalf of all, I demand humans and animals no longer be experimented upon without "informed consent!" We are all "guinea pigs" -- we are all victims of a selfish, greedy, dishonest system!

Tiny magnetic iron crystals in the brain may be linked to the development of Alzheimer's disease, suggests preliminary research.

If further work confirms the hypothesis, it could be possible to diagnose patients with early Alzheimer's disease by measuring the level of iron oxide crystals, called magnetite, in their brains.

Jon Dobson at the University of Keele, UK, and his colleagues examined six brain samples and found that magnetite levels increased with Alzheimer's disease severity, the first time such a link has been shown. "If the data continues to go this way, the implications are quite profound," he told New Scientist.

Dobson says it has been known for 50 years that there is an association between excess iron and Alzheimer's disease, but that scientists had been baffled by the form in which this iron occurs.

"This is a very interesting hypothesis that definitely needs some further research," says Richard Harvey, director of research at the UK Alzheimer's Society. "But the data is from very, very limited samples so you can't draw any conclusions other than to say it's interesting and fits into some of the theories of Alzheimer's."

Dobson's group will now look at iron compounds in more brain samples. They will also examine samples from patients with other neurodegenerative diseases that are also linked to excess iron, such as Parkinson's and Huntingdon's disease. This further work will be part-funded by the UK Alzheimer's Society.

Early detection

The team measured magnetite in brain tissue taken from patients who died from Alzheimer's. They used a technique called SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) magnetometry, which measures the samples' responses to different magnetic fields.

In the three samples from Alzheimer's patients, increasing levels of the crystal correlated with the increasing severity of the disease in that patient. Two of the three control samples showed no magnetite at all. But the third sample had low levels of magnetite despite the person having had no clinical signs of the Alzheimer's before they died.

When the team looked this person's brain in detail they found changes associated with the devastating disease, such as the formation of plaques. "The nice thing about that was that we were able to pick it up in magnetite measurements before clinical measurements," Dobson says.

Detecting early stage Alzheimer's would be "very beneficial", he says, as patients they could be treated promptly with the new therapies that are now emerging.

Free radicals

Magnetite could cause disease in two ways, says Dobson. It is capable of generating free radicals, which damage cells, particularly in the brain. Also, because the crystal is strongly magnetic, it may interfere with ordinary biochemical reactions within cells, which may also lead to the formation of free radicals.

Harvey says Alzheimer's disease is known to be associated with two proteins: amyloid proteins that cause plaques in the brain, and tau proteins that cause nerve cells to tangle.

"What we don't know is what triggers their production," he told New Scientist, but it is "just plausible" that magnetite will provide the answer.

There is "no question" that electric field exposures cause inflammation that leads to protein misfolding (amyloid formation). Even before plaques develop, I strongly believe research supports that "inflammation itself" may be more than enough damage and/or "problem" to trigger memory problems and confusion.

I always feel bad when so many write they know in their case(s) that Alzheimers is inherited/genetic. Alzheimers and numerous other health problems directly correlate with increases in electrification.

Only a small number of cases are "truly genetic." We copy others -- if mom and dad, aunt and uncle, etc. had an electric clock on nightstand or headboard, it is common to do the same. Often one family member shares with another how cozy an electric blanket is -- more recently "heated mattress pads."

These things and much more are directly related to chronic inflammation, amyloid formation and even the magnetite research you provided.

I can't thank you enough for contributing to my post re "need to inform!" This has been a long, lonely road and the only way to get to some of the public is to post on message boards such as this. Sadly, only persons who are already adversely affected and/or who are caretakers of Alzheimers' patients, etc., are the persons reading these posts.

"Word-of-mouth" will help save many tho and other information re melatonin benefits as well as other supplements are known to improve quality-of-life even in persons diagnosed with Alzheimers.

I have more important studies to come. Very tired right now but going to bed with great appreciation for your post and concerns!
