Hi All,

My Mom's incontinence problems have been growing really fast. We do use Depends right now but they are not enough to keep her clean through the night.

Are there any other options that we can use to especially for nighttime - because it's cold and let her be wet is not good. Also, it's difficult to change her in the middle of the night when she's so heavily sedated with all her medicines.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much
Neelam

That can be a real hassle. No experience, but could you put her in a depends, then put a larger size depends over that one? Also, they make protective sheets to put over her regular bedsheets to help prevent soiling the sheets--we used to call them puddle pads, and used them in the crib when my kids where little. But I know they make them for regular beds too that are disposable (the puddle pads you could wash).
When people have problems with going to the bathroom alot at night, they also suggest eliminating all liquids in the evening-or at least restricting the amount--Try cutting out or down on the liquids in the evening--if possible--I know sometimes it just isn't workable. Try also reposting on the Caregivers forum, someone there may have more/better suggestions and experience. Good Luck

Rather than 2 Depends, insert the the heaviest poise pad inside the Depend. Then if that is the only thing wet, you can easily remove it and reinsert another one without removing everything.

Hi, yes there are better options. We'd suggest trying the TENA or Tranquility brands that are much thicker than Depend.

We'll send samples of these in the size you need, if you contact me at jdileo@woodburyproducts.com. (My dad uses the TENA brand now.)

Thanks for the question.
