Hi! There is so little activity on this message board compared to the message board for those with EOAD. I'm wondering if many of you 65 and older read the messages on this site and want to be more involved. I am 65, but have tended to read the EOAD site because more is happening there. Is anyone interested in getting the "I Have Alzheimer's" site more active? Who are you? Tell us about yourselves. Donna in Maine

Hi Rev. West, I'm glad you've found us. I was diagnosed five months ago and am living my life as a person with AD openly, intentionally, and with acceptance - and laughter. I look forward to getting to know you. I'm 65, a former teacher. Donna in Maine

Welcome Wes,
My name is Lisa. I'm 53 and diagnosed with early onset alzheimer's disease (EOAD) about 3 months ago. I'm still trying to figure things out!! This is a great place to ask questions, ventilate fears and frustrations, and help other people! There are lots of wonderful people who post here with lots of experience and insight!! also, they have "care consultants" to ask questions to. You may, also, want to join a local ALZ support group where you can meet with people in person. Again, Good Luck and welcome!! Lisa |

Lisa.....what was happening in your life that caused you to seek a diagnosis if I may ask. I often think about this because it runs in my mothers side of the family, back to the GG Grandmother........I have been thnking that there is little hope for me at this point.

Dear Nevada Rose,
Welcome! I'm sorry for what brings you here. I sought diagnosis and tx because my family and co-workers told me I kept asking the same questions over and over, Apparently, I had conversations I did not remember and I began to do poorly at work! My Mom has ALZ but it NEVER occurred it me that I might have it at 53 years old!! Yes, I had memory problems and kept forgetting things but.... Hope this helps Lisa Lisa |

Thank you Lisa....,I don't think it would hurt to be checked for it anyway.....what scares me is that I might be dx'd with it. I don't know how this would effect me. 50's seems so young. I am 55, but remain 21 and holding..lol.
I will keep you informed, and I wish you the best with everything. |

Was in no 3 chatroom with Nevada Rose but it seemed she could not get her post to show up.Don't know what the problem was,or is.............

Hi Snow....,I left the computer, and got caught up in National Geographic and forgot I was online..........I'm really beginning to hate that "forgot" word..lol

I have decided to copy and paste this on every one of these message boards. So, if you've already seen this, sorry. The hopelessness you are all feeling is so very sad...especially when I've seen something that is helping some people, my beautiful Mom being one of them!
My Mom has Alzheimer's and was progressing rather rapidly. I don't know if you've seen this yet, but we started a thread on this message board in Medications/Treatments for Alzheimer's, Enbrel for Alzheimer's. My Mom has been going for the treatment for 4 weeks, and has actually improved! There is much controversy as you will see if you read our thread, but it is NOT just another "false hope". It is real, at least for my Mom and a few other on our thread and approx 30 others at Dr. Tobinick's office. It is a long thread, 8 pages now, so if you at least glance over at my posts, biblecats posts, Bob Lee's posts, and a few others you'll see what's been happening. Bob Lee's wife is only 51 and he needs help (as we all do) to get this treatment approved so that it can be covered by insurance and so that more doctor's across the nation can learn about it. Please read our questions, answers, and testimonials. With hope for all, Felicia McColl Rose's Baby famc17 (at) yahoo.com (Was told writing it this way would help stop spam to my account) |

Hello Housie and Welcome,
I'm sorry for what brings you here. This is a great place to ventilate, ask questions, and get great support. I haven't seen your house but I would be ashamed to show you mine! I have no organizational skills left. If I put things away, I can't find them later! I'm so glad your daughter is going to the camp. It will be a wonderful place for her to meet kids her age who are going thru the same things and having the same feelings! Good Luck Please, keep us posted Peace and Hope, Lisa |

Hi All,
My name is Gordon. I was diagnosed two years ago with EOAD. I searched the Internet to find a discussion board like this one to learn, to hear the stories of others like me and discuss things related to AD with others. "My father started growing very quiet as Alzheimer's started claiming more of him. The early stages of Alzheimer's are the hardest because that person is aware that they're losing awareness. And I think that that's why my father started growing more and more quiet." Patti Davis |

Hello Gordon and welcome,
I'm sorry for what brings you here. You have found a great site to learn, vent feelings, get support and information. The people here are wonderful, kind, great listeners, and will also give you great feed back. If you are under 65, try posting in the "less than 65" EOAD site. You may get more feed back there. My name is Lisa, I'm 54 and dx last year with EOAD/FTD. Please come here as often as you can to get support and share your story! Peace and Hope, Lisa |

Hi one and all, I would so like for the alzheimer's chat room to become active, when I visit chat room most people are carers, bless their hearts, a wonderful group, however, for those us who are struggling to come to grips with this rotten condition we need our own spot to share, encourage and occasionally vent,so lets get together, alright.
Its in the Fathers hands! North Carolina |
