Phyllis welcome! I am sorry for the reason you had to find us but you have found a great warm and supportive community as well as full of knowledge. I was diagnosed when I was 38 years old in 2002. Yes, this disease is very scary especially when you begin losing the ability to do or remember things you have done all of your life. I encourage you to contact your local Chapter, they will have a lot of resources you should be able to have access to. Feel free to share here or ask questions anytime.

Dear Phylis, and Tracy, I am a grandmother living with my husband ,widowed son with EOAD.
We are caregivers for him and his two boys 12 15. I can assure you Phylis you are not going to be aburden to you family. They are there for you and you would be doing the same for them if need be. I would love to communicate maybe to help ease your fears and maybe get some insight on my son's inner thoughts that he does not express. I can give some insight on the grndchildrens thoughts and things they might express. God Bless

Hearthfelt, I am the founder of Camp Building Bridges. It is a respite camp for young teens that have a parent or grandparent in the home with dementia. This is a first year for this awesome program with many years to follow. It gives the kids 1 day of educational services and the rest of the week is theirs to play and forget dementia as much as they can. They will meet other kids in their same situation and hopefully build a support network of their own. I still have 3 scholarships avaialbale if your grandsons are interested. Here is the website.
