My husband was given a PET scan but now I hear that they are not very reliable for detecting EOAD.

my husband was diagnosed last year with MCI and now in on-going testing for EOAD. We just finished a round of MRI and PET scans - meeting with doctor in June. Have you gotten an EOAD diagnosis? Did you have the B12 blood test? Is this your first PET?

Hi Amy,
Yes this was his first PET scan and he was diagnosed from that. He has not had a B-12 blood test. His mother passed away last June with AD and 2 of his aunts also had it so there is a family history there. He also had 2 head injuries when he was in his early 20's. We are seeing a nerologist and he is on Aricert now. Susan |

Hi Susan, in the early stages of the disease a MRI is not that reliable. The PET Scan however is very detailed and shows in most cases if there is dementia and if so what part of the brain is affected.
