Hi All,
I really messed things up this afternoon. Left my daughter's house in a rage. She called me an hour and a half later and I told her all the things that "cut to the edge" on my abrupt departure. She gave me a reality check that EVERYONE in the family has noticed a change in my behavior. (sp) I've been wondering for quite some time if this has something to do with hormones? I've been on Estradiol 0.5 mg since 2002. Had my Uterus out but not my overies. Been tested back in 2004 and was told I am thru the change of life. But I'm so hot all the time and now I'm so sensitive when things are going wrong. Like this afternoon, tryed calling for help but I realize this is a holiday. I am wondering tho if this is more of a hormone issue, let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Marcia Marcia, ms5257@aol.com. Indiana |

Marcia, this is where you need a good internist or some other special doctor, to check it out. A lot of male doctors have no clue of the hormonal processes of a woman, but a few get it.
Lots of things can cause symptoms like yours, so just get the bloodwork done, see what it points to. Be careful though, with your symptoms there are a lot of doctors that would yell "Bipolar!!" and dose you good with some powerful medications. Think horses not zebras, right? You already know there are some hormone issues, so let's go with that avenue. Alan |

Marcia,
Sorry you are having these problems. I agree with Alan. Get a check-up with blood work to check it out. Good Luck and keep us posted. Peace and Hope, Lisa check out my blog @ http://lcc-thoughtsfromtherollercoaster.blogspot.com/ |

Marcia,
I agree with Alan and Lisa. Except I would do some research locally and find a specialist in womens hormone, specifically one who knows how to prescribe bio-identical hormones. The standard dosages used by the shotgun approach doctors can be out of balance for your system. Dr Oz and his buddy did a newspaper article about bio-identical hormones about a week ago. Here is a link to their article. http://www.idahostatesman.com/life/story/707188.html Oprah has also done some shows on bio-identical hormones. Suzanne somers has written a book about her successes. When my wife got her hormones balanced out, I got my wife back. I know other husbands who make the same claim. Don't let some doctor who has sold out to the big pharmaceutical companies try to tell you they are not any better. Tell them to try living with you the way you are now. Not always a pretty sight. No insult intended. Hormones can be maddening. Good luck to you. Mark in Idaho I have suffered from concussion and apnea induced cognitive and memory decline since 2001 at age 46. You hit the nail on the head Mark! I contacted my gyno. and told him my symptoms. Had blood drawned on Mon and today recieved the news that my hormone level was extremely low. Doc told me to double up on hormone pills and take another blood test in 10 days.
Finally a answer to my emotional state. Oh how I wish tho that this terrible ALZ disease would have the same quick fix. So important to be heard and keep up fight to end this!! Marcia Marcia, ms5257@aol.com. Indiana |

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Let your family know so they can better understand.
What does he say about your progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA levels? These are important too. The "double your Estrogen med" sounds simplistic compared to how my wife's gyno's analyzes her blood levels. The fine tweaking of hormones is worth the effort. My wife is 58 so is comparable to you in age. Balancing the other hormones is important because they interact. But, you have a great start at getting some of the old you back. Thank you Mark for the advise. I did tell both my children about my testing this past week and I believe they have a better understanding about how mom has been acting.
I honestly can't tell any diffrence tho since I've doubled up on hormone med's,.. will see when the next blood is drawn. Iris, I'm really concerned about you after reading your last several posts. I do hope you find the right doctor that will help you. Sometimes I feel like throwing all meds. in the trash but deep down I know that's not the right thing to do. Let's all hang in there!
