Tonight I put a soft pretzel in my toaster oven to heat and set the microwave timer for 8 minutes. The timer went off, and just as I was about to get up the telephone rang. I answered and chatted for about 30 minutes. My mind was COMPLETELY distracted from the toaster oven. The secondary cue that I had set up, which is turning on the lightbulb of the stove hood, I also completely forgot.

I was happy before because my memory was better with the Exelon and Namenda. Now I'm discouraged. I'm still easily distracted. Have they stopped working so soon? It's been 5 1/2 months for the Exelon patch 9.5 mg qd and 3 months for the Namenda 20 mg qd.

Iris, remember the normal distribution? The bell curve it's also called.

Our medications, as I understand them, shift our distribution in a favorable direction. But, we'll still have experiences from both tails.

Put another way, there'll still be highs and lows. Just on average higher overall.

I feel like I'm not clear. Sorry.

HI Iris,

I also get sidetracked like that. Simply walking to another room to get something, If something catches my eye I will stop and do that. Of course I forget the original purpose of walking into the other room.

I think in your case, the phone call was a better offer to you at the time than the pretzel was. I know I kind of go into mind hibernation sometimes. I just simply relax and don't concentrate and track well.

Iris! Don't allow that Old-timers trick bother youi! It is important for anybody over the age of 40 to keep from being distracted while doing things. I think it might be time to worry if you forgot to worry about the smoke coming out of the oven!

Tom, Lucky for me it didn't get to the point of clouds of smoke pouring out of my oven! (lol)

Lisa, I think I will put a Post-It on my computer screen when I have something in the toaster over to add to my reminder cues. That's a great idea for me. Thanks!
