My married daughter, with two married children, has recently been diagnosed with alzheimer,s. I have started attending a support group, but so many patients are older, and most caregivers are the spouses. I would like to find those to communicate with that have had their adult children diagnosed with this disease. I am 74, in good health, but my beautiful daughter, only 51, is slowly being taken from me. Please help, if you can. Thanks
Hi connie, I am sorry for your circumstances, losing a child must always be hard but this long goodbye is hard on everyone. I think TwiceBlessed has experienced this with her husband and a daughter and her posts on the caregivers forum may offer you some help. Valerie
My sister, who is 51 has recently been diagnosed. We're all devestated, but I feel most sorry for my Mom. This disease takes someone from you in such a horrible way and of course for you and my Mom this is not the way it's supposed to be, you shouldn't outlive your children.
Mom joined a support group, which I know helps some. I will send her a link to this website and hopefully she'll respond to you. She is the same age as you are and in good health also.
Take care and I'll pray for you and your daughter. My hope is that they'll find a cure in their lifetime.
