My 13 year old son is really needing someone in his age group to connect with. He has days that he really struggles with his anger at this disease. If there are any families with others in his age range, please try and connect with us.

Decided to come on the early onset forum, and read your thread.

I have a idea, see what you think?

I am a child with a mother that has AD. Am I a young child, no, I'm 57 years old. But still a child with a mother that has AD. Shes 83.


Why couldn't we who are children with parents with AD, help young children with parents who have AD. The feelings are almost the same. Worse of course for the younger child.

Pass this on to your son. If he agree's, I'll send you my email address if you don't already have it. (It has changed, so let me know if you have new one.)

Keep in mind, that if he and you agree to this, and he wants our conversations private, I will have to abide by that.

Oh Tracy I wish I could help your son. Does he have AOL Instant Messanger? I am not 13 but I am only a little bit older, 20. Its also not my mom with the disease but my grandmother. By the way I have a few cousins his age who I just love. I get along strangely well with 13 year old boys! I think I am probably one at heart. LOL! *hugs*

it's emily, trish's daughter, again. i am not 13 but i am 21 and i know fair well the devastating affects this disease has on a young adult/teen. i was just 7 when my grandmother passed from EOAD...my father/uncle both have EOAD as you know. please tell him to e-mail me soon because i am dying to talk to someone sharing my same anger/sadness.

Hi Emily, thanks for your response. I will let Austin know that you would be willing to e-mail. He really enjoys chatting with Bobby. I really think it makes a difference to have someone your age or close to your age to chat with.
