I spoke to my supervisor today about starting the disability process...here we go. I am feeling kind of sick, I'm sure it is stress. This will be the first time in my adult life I've been unemployeed.

Dear Nemo, I last worked at age 37. For years I believed I was on a break, that if I could just find the right treatment I would return to work at my medical practice. I refused to say I was unemployed, yet I was reluctant to say I was on disability. Not until I reached 50 years did I feel comfortable saying I'm on early retirement. So many people over 50 do take early retirement, so I felt more comfortable among those retirees.
I don't remember how old you are. But if you can't work, you need the help. So do whatever you need to do to get yourself help. Iris L. I am my own caregiver. |

Nemo, you remind me how important it is to stick to a decision, trusting our best judgment no matter how stressful it feels. It takes a mightily strong person to do that, even more so with dementia.
