Hi Kevin, my name is Tracy and I was diagnosed with EOAD in 2002 at 38 years old, my diagnosis has since changed to frontal temporal dementia. I am very active as an advocate, if you share your story I am sure I can offer some suggestions or help of some kind.

Welcome Kevin -- you will find some help on this board if you look around. Do you have Alzheimer's or someone in your family? I was diagnosed 5 years ago at the age of 46. I'm sure if you share some things with this board you will get some suggestions.

Hi Kevin -my name is tami, and i know how you feel. i felt the same way when if first found out, i really did think that i was crazy. i didnt even want to tell the neuro everything that i was experiencing because i thought that they were so weird. anyway...what you need to know, is...LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!! Do you have any support? Is there someone that you can talk to?.
I have found that I have to keep my mind busy. If I don't have my mind going with something, then, it wanders to the world of alzies....and wherever....when my daughter and husdand say, what are you thinking...what is wrong...and i say....i dont know....and i really dont...you know what i mean..?
anyway.
I have been finding things to keep busy with, new things that i havent done before. I added birdfeeders to our deck, and beautiful birds come there to eat. they have beautiful songs to hear and colors to see. you can get good books at the library to figure out what bird is which and keep a log as to what birds have come to see you. i name mine....haha, even though i know though i know they arent the same exact birds each time. i talk to them.
i planted flowers, so i need to water them everday, and take care of them.
study the night sky, there is a great website that will tell you what stars and planets you can see each day.
i guess, just enjoy each day....enjoy what God has created and given to us. He created us and i know that it doesn't seem like it now, but there is a plan that he has for you and me, even with this disease, so, try to take a deep breath say a prayer and look around at the beauty. I think that you will find your days a little brighter! (I HOPE)
I am here for you!!!!!!!!!
Friends,

T Hoops is right. Stay busy. Keep your mind busy. It's a muscle that needs stimulating. Go to the book store, pick out books about topics you know nothing about but seem interesting. I worked with my grandfather to document his memories so that he would be forced to go back into his mind and pull out memories he hadn't accessed in a while...and also, for my benefit because I didn't want him to be gone and know nothing of his life. The people on this forum are amazing so don't be afraid to lean on them too.
