OH Ladies,
My husband is 62 years old, has been out of work since 2004, he had a set back in 2006 and can't walk or talk (except a few words). He is on social security disability, with the help of your dr. you should be able to apply. I am not sure what fld is, either. I am sorry your husband is ill, you should try the caregivers forum, there is lots of information there, and very knowledgeable people to share ideas. I wish you both the best, you will be in my prayers. connecticut |

I see that you are in the UK, but some things you can do to start is to find a face-to-face support group. You will be astonished how much support you will get and how many of your questions and needs will be answered--and of course, you will understand each other. I will also advise you to take care of yourself and know from personal experience that is rarely done. My husband was diagnosed at 64 but I knew something was wrong for many years before that. Take all the help you can get, don't hesitate to ask for it. Hopefully you have some family who can step in from time to time. I know your system is different and many docs really don't know that much about AD, so these boards & support groups are really important. At the web site below you can read some basic info that will help you to understand what he is going thru and how to respond. Start with 'what you need to know.' Don't hesitate to ask questions, someone will always answer. We understand, we've been there. We know it's hard, but you are not alone.
