I have always been a very positive person even with this disease. My neuro always tells me, "a cure is just around the corner, we are getting closer." Well he has been telling me that for 5 years now and I am no longer looking for that cure. I am not saying we should become negative and quit trying by any means but what I am saying is that we need to learn how to live in the moment and to continue to adapt to what we have now rather than wait for what tomorrow brings.

I know many people when they are diagnosed they feel that their whole world has crumbled beneath them and for a moment it has. Until they get a grasp on what is and what can be as well as go through the grieving processes of the disease but for many I think comes that day of accepting what they now have, to live with and to make the best of it.

Will there be a cure someday? I really don't know. I use to be as optimistic as my Neuro appears to be when I see him twice a year but now I have learned that learning how to live with what I have and knowing I will need to adjust along the way makes it alot easier than hoping for what may never come.

Dear Tracy,
I couldn't have said it better myself. You are so right about learning how to cope and adapt sometimes on a daily basis. I pray daily for the strength to continue to be able to adapt and adjust. I try to remember that I will have good days and bad days and not to get too caught up in the bad days.
Thanks, as always, for your insight and inspiration,

Peace and Hope,

Know I am in the wrong age bracket here, however,I have learned so much from you all being new to this mess of a condition,I am a young thinking acting 82,perhaps this will be my excuse for not acting my age,you are so right there is always someone telling us what to do and what not to do,many of us are still able to care for ourselves, with a litte help from our family and frinds which we accept with gratitude

Young Hope: I just want to tell you that you have a remarkable attitude. Your courage will be your most important asset as you fight this insidious disease. After losing two loved ones to Alz., I look to your posts for strength and inspiration. I'm quite a bit older than you, and so far I'm okay; however, in spite of your young years, you are much wiser.

May God continue to keep you and your family strong, and enfolded in His loving care.

Hugs,
Kathyl
