How about specific songs you love that could actually be sung by ordinary folk? (I'm not sure we could do rounds of 'I can't get no satisfaction."). However "Let It Be" is just wonderful to sing with friends.
A friend's husband at 50 is in daycare and he just is not getting off on "Daisy Daisy." I've been thinking of putting together a song book for EOAD... Any suggestions of specific songs that we can actually sing? Songs WE sang as kids?: Mickey Mouse Club theme?? |

brightwings, you know for me, the biggest problem with sing-alongs is that most successful male singers are tenors. Most regular guys are more baritone, and pretty narrowly at that in terms of range. That makes it difficult to sing along with a lot of my favorite singers. I can change the key if I'm accompanying myself, but that isn't the same as cranking up the stereo and singing along.
In the spirit of "Let It Be," I nominate the Eagles' "Peaceful Easy Feeling." Let's see, who else . . . Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer." Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly." P,P, & M's "Leaving on a Jet Plane." John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High." Daisy, tell me your answer, do, is great for our grandparents. But people in their 70s generally love the Beatles, Rolling Stones, all the hot 1960s groups. Alan |
