For anyone who is interested, I have started a blog. I am Lisa, 55, dx @53 with EOAD. I am, also, a caregiver to my Mom, 78, who has AD. My blog is called "Thoughts from the Roller Coaster". I have received some e-mails for me to please post my blog. I have done this b4 but I will happily to it again.

Thanks for the inquiries.

Hang in there Lisa, your mood will cycle back up any minute now. Try to get a lot of morning sunshine, it often helps and the price is right.

Lisa, I remember back when I did the occasional evaluation of a nursing home resident, who sometimes were so depressed, so angry about how their life was turning out. And a nurse said to me, that was the worst time, to be headed into the deep water, and know it.

As impossible as this sounds, I believe that we can still find enjoyment in life. It might take some compromise on goals, but we can do it. We may not enjoy ourselves all day every day, but there's no legal way to feel that good anyway.

Hi Lisa

I'm in agreement with Alan, early sunshine provides vitamin D. This helps build up energy. We all need it from time to time.

I am still trying to find a "happy" medium in this new life of ALZ, sometimes, it's pretty easy, others, more difficult. You have strength and determination, I admire that in you. You also have quite a responsibility not just to yourself, but, to your parents also. You definitely have a special angel on your shoulder! I think in a way, we all do.

Maybe God, or the greater being, is putting us through a test. A test to find the basic in life's happiness and contentment! If that's the case, than we all need a break who are experiencing anger management issues and depression, don't you agree? Keep your faith and take every day as a special day. This is my new philosophy!. The days that I can't, I keep to myself!

M

I don't know about deities, Mary. If I knew that some invisible creature was doing this to me, I'd make it my remaining life's goal to kill that monster.

Hey y'all,
Thanks for the support. This roller coaster is kicking my butt these days.

I woke up this am, went to check on Mom only to find her on her bedroom floor!!!AAhhhh

Poor Mom, luckily she wasn't hurt but I had a heck of a time getting her off the floor. (My back doctor said I had to stop doing all that). What was I supposed to do leave her on the floor??? lol.

I'm a spiritual person just not a religious one. I believe there's something out there (The force, God ??). I'm just not sure what that is!?

Peace and Hope,
Lisa

Lisa, why was your mother on her bedroom floor? And is the poor dear unable to get up, once she's down, at all?

Alan et al,
She had gotten up to use her BSC (bedside commode)and was unable to get back into bed. She then fell! Luckily, the bedroom is carpeted!
And no, once she's down, she's down and cannot get up!

Thanks for asking.

Peace and Hope,
Lisa

Lisa, there is an alarm you can put on the bed to alert you when your Mom gets out of bed. Unfortunately, I don't know how to order it.

What about a baby monitor for her bedroom?

Hi All

God, hopefully, she won't get hurt

Lisa,

The baby monitor idea is great. We used one for my dad. It was a wonderful way to monitor without hovering. It also worked well because our house is multi-level, saved a lot of hollering.

We also bought one of those alarms on a cord you can snap to clothing and when pulled the alarm would go off. I don't remember what the gadget was called though. This worked great when he was still semi-ambulatory but needed assistance in getting up and around.

Hey Cindy,
Thanks for sharing. Do you remember where you bought the alarm on a cord? Or do you remember the name of it!

Please, let me know.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for logging on and reading. I post almost every day to let people know what it's like to have EOAD and be a caregiver to my Mom, 78 with AD.
It's quite a roller coaster ride.

I hope it helps other people!!

Thanks again for taking the time to read it.

Hi Lisa,

Can't find the gadget we had here. Found something similar online at the alzheimer's store, called a Fall Prevention
alarm. They sell it for $29.95.

The website for the store is:

http://www.alzstore.com/index.html

I don't recall where we got ours at, although it looks similar with a magnetic contact.
