I'd never heard of CAD106 before. It's another vaccine, but unlike Bapineuzumab, it is designed to stimulate the production of antibodies by the patient. The first trial on such a concept, for AN1792, was suspended when some patients (6%) developed encephalitis. Up until that point, the data showed a "trend toward cognitive benefit in antibody responders", and autopsies showed striking plaque clearance in most patients.

Unlike AN1792, CAD106 appears to have a pretty good safety profile so far. See:
