^5's Iris, to answer your question how i keep track of all that music is i cant. When i am putting a playlist together most the time i can remeber the name of the tune but not what is it or the other way round. So to make a 3 hours playlist can take me 4 or 5 hours to do becuase i have to play alot of them to see what they are.

But it is worth ever second i dont care how your day is going what kind of mood your in or what the ocation is there is music to fit it. And all you have to do is lean back and relax. I like to play music that takes you place's i know that is hard to understand. When i am putting a playlist together i think where i want to go with the music where doi want to take the ppl that are tuned in. Maybe i want to start out realy slow and soft then find music that fits that but its hard to explain i start one place take to another and back but its inporting that it mesh that there is a smooth trans from one to the other. And the request i get neans a lot to me also if people are making request i have done my job, by that i mean im playing what they want to hear.

Wow sorry guys i do this all the time start out to say something brief and end up making a book out of it.

Rock On!

Cool sorry sarg here again. There is a site you can go to and find just about ever type of music there is. Its call shoutcast.com there you can pick from inet radio station from all over the world, every type you could ever want. Some of them even take requests and have live dj's. Maybe that might help you find the type of music you enjoy and not have to down load it.

ROCK ON!

Here is the link to it. I hope this is ok to post if not please tell me.

Sarg, I'll bet there isn't anything better for your brain, than getting your playlist ready. I love music too, love the way I can use the web to put together songs that I want to hear. And I like almost everything, like I'm betting you do, too.

For my own entertainment, I might listen to something from a musical, to Sugarland, to Led Zeppelin, Journey, James Taylor . . . the possibilities are endless.

I'll check out that web site.

Have you ever had a day when you are listening to the radio and you think each song is being played directly to you??

That happened to me yesterday.... It was a rough day. I was out doing errands. Each time I got back in the van a song was on that took me back to a moment in my life when things were.... wonderful!

Sending a friendly forum wave to djsarg \0/. I have been following your story on the other threads. SO glad things are looking up and you are finding help and found this forum!! And really glad you are over here on the music thread now! I ran across this place by accident and even tho I don't have AD myself, (but I surely wonder and worry sometimes) I've been graciously allowed to stay and post! Thanks again forum friends!!

Hey Alan.... What do you think about Glee now that it is a few shows into the season?? I have lost interest. Whats up with the not pregnant wife story line?? Upsetting.... I want all happy and no drama like that!

Two weeks until I possibly go see U2. Mom's health has been up / down / all over the place in recent weeks.... so my plans, I'm just leaving it to the last minute to decide....

love and peace,
serendipity

Serendipity, I'm sure U2 will put on a great show, they've been doing this a long, long time. I hope you go.

Sometimes a song will hit me just right, and then another, it's a great feeling when those waves come. I try to create them some days, like with YouTube.

I think Glee's writers are the most talented currently working on tv. That said, they might need better supervision. Some of the plot directions are too dark for most people. It's interesting how they've made the central relationships between people who have other commitments, e.g. the lead and the big-eyed redhead guidance counselor, and between the club's best singer and the quarterback. Those relationships are necessary for plot tension, I get that. But I'm not comfortable with the fake pregnancy story line either.

You know how it has to be, plot-wise? Our favorites will strive for happiness, with us rooting them on. As soon as they get a taste of that happiness, it has to be torn away from them, leaving things bleaker than ever. Those are the rules.

Alright, a rockin' country song! I see what you mean, male/female doesn't matter to the meaning of the song. And the video makes it clear that the holy water cleanses us all, not just girls.

Big Grin I had a good day, was invited to a nice birthday party, ate way to much.

But thats not what i stopped in about i have been thinking (i know thats not a good thing for me, lol jk) I am thinking about opening a radio station for us and whoever might what to tune in, however they would need a computer and net to do so.

The cost is less then $10. a month (which i already pay anyhow), i already have the programs, the music and the computer to do it.

I could have it up and running in about two days, it will take me a few weeks to get the requestable streamer up though. O a requestable streamer is where you go to the stations web page look though the playlist (about 22,000 songs and effects) pick what ya want and it will play it in the order it was requested.

If you all want to have that for us i need nothing at all from you but your input, no strings, no money, just fun and relaxing. No silly chat room if i am at the computer you all could IM me on yahoo and i will just slip the tune right in the playlist.

Its up to you all. All i have right now is a URL (stream) set for 64kbs 44.1hz with 50 seats. all that means if you have a net other then dial up you can tune in up to 50 ppl at a time.

You all think about it and let me know, I think it would be nice and hey who knows when there might be a live dj on, psssttt i know a few who would love to guest dj for us.

Balls in your court let me know.

ROCK ON!!

Smiler all i need ya all to do is pick a name for it. The rest we can just wing it, lol. I know this realy great DJ and (ex-station owner) who i think will give us a hand with the web. She also has almost all the music i have and uses th same dj program. how convent Wink

Its realy not that hard at all. I just want to remind everyone that not all the people like the same music. so with that in mind i would rather not play music that would hurt or offend each other.

Anyhow she can also help out as a backup streamer. I just want this to be fun for every one. i think i remember some one saying the music is the last to go? Well lets keep the music playing, wat ya say?

if ya didnt notice im soooo lookinggg forward to this i can hardly stand it. I so love music!

Good Morning all, we i will be doing a simocast with two other stations on the net on halloween it will start at about 4pm est till late sunday or into the morning on monday. It is fun live dj's. The other two station have chat room and cams, please understand i cant control what happens at those chat site nor thier cams. i do not use a cam and will not go in the rooms. They all have yahoo request lines on yahoo msg. i can provide that if you want. I will be on the air also for a few hours.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND i cant not control what the other stations play say or do. I have about 3 - 5 seconds of delay to stop the stream from them and that is near impossible for me to do.

I have spoke to the owners and asked that they keep it in mind that it will be on Halloween night and the kids will be up late. I hope they respect that request.

NOW THE GREAT NEWS, I WILL BE GOING ON THE AIR LIVE TONIGHT AT 6PM EST TILL 8PM EST.. feel free to tune in and make requests on my yahoo djsarg@yahoo.com ROCK ON!!

An idea just struck me. Why the talk about music?

I thought the idea was to sing to or with music.

Or is this a rap music thread?

LOL

Gee sarg, has your dementia left you sometimes sensitive? Mine sure has. I've cried more in the past two years, then all the rest of my adult life combined.

I feel I know Mark pretty well, having been messaging on the forums for what seems like forever. His sense of humor has a dark side, as does mine. He said nothing that you need to take offense from.

As for music and dementia, sure, the best thing would be to write and perform our own music. Most of us have to compromise downward from that, all the way to just being able to listen to music. That's all fine, the music doesn't care, and all of it is good for us.

Anyone who doesn't like the selection of music can just not tune in or wait for the next song.

You worked hard on this and I want to listen.

Hope I didn't offend you sarg.

I was just being a wise guy. Haven't see much humor on this site lately.

My mind saw "Let's talk about music" and took off on a tangent thinking it is more enjoyable to sing with music.

That is how this smart a__ 's demented mind works.

Like becky says, Life, ya just gotta laugh.

For those who want to listen, djsarg, after a very ruff last 24 hour period has put his station back up for those of us who like good music and want to listen to some Halloween themed music.

Tune in and enjoy.

Djsarg or BeckyP or anyone who can help....

I have both Itunes and Windows Media Player. However, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I can get to the site and/or get the right url for Itunes but no music.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it only up at certain times? I've been trying for the last couple days.

Any help is appreciated.

Cindy L, there are two ways that I have done this, hope it works for you.

l. Right click over the url, click copy shortcut, open your windows media player, go to top and click on File, click on open url, paste the url in box and click ok. That should link you to dj's site.

or

2. Go to the site, click on listen at the top, it will bring up a file to open or save, click open, and it should open up in your windows media player or what other player program you may have on your computer. Mine opens in VLC media player.

Hope it works for ya, dj's playing some pretty good stuff right now.

Frowner Mark im sorry for being an %^& . i can not even begain to explain this weekend. It has been unbelievable, i dont even beleave what they say happened. It sure wasnt your falt man, you just happened to be the 1st person who walked by when i unloaded all this frustation. Everyone but me seen it coming, i worried alot of people this weekend. Was hateful to the people closest to me. It all is the past now..i am calling the doctor in the morning DJ^Angel told me that she is worried that im going to get hurt. I took my car to her house and stated to walk home, i never should have done that, not a night. So i got lost in the rain at night hiding under a bridge on the hwy. I remember some things and most they told me.

Im not proud of that stuff but i wanted to make sure Mark would unstand that while i snaped on him he didnt cause it.

DJ^Angel and best friend has the stream now so i can back off and regroup. I jumped into this to fast, Angel has every tune i have then some. if you hear her voice you will think you did hear an angel.

You can still post or email requests and angel will get them in for you. This will give me a little time to work on my music and playlists. It will only be a day or two will probley two.

Again Mark ^5's sorry.

DJsarg,

No offense taken.

I know how just the wrong word at the wrong time can connect to current struggles and make them blow up.

For weeks I have seen "Let's talk about Music" and it was somewhat meaningless.

Then I saw it as Talk music, and made a wise crack.

All of our minds take of on unexpected tangents from time to time. Learning how to accommodate each other is a part of the game.

There are many things I don't do anymore because of the risk of a brain fart.

I hope you are feeling better.

Yes Mark I feel great now that i see you understand what happened. Im even affaired to sleep at night, from just before dusk and when the sun starts to come up is the worst parts of the day for me it seems like i get even more confused and wander off.

i know i have said it before and i will say it again. If you havent already everyone one of us should enrole in the medic alart safe return program i dont work for them or anything but two times them working with the alz org has kept me from the possibleity i would never come home when i wandered off, this last time late at night, in the rain alongside the hwy wet cold covered with mud and O2 tank near empty. SO YES IT IS WORTH EVERY CENT, yes it does cost a small fee but the ALZ Org paided for mine with grants they recieve so even if you think you cant afford it call them call the 800 number TODAY!

And thank you DJ^Angel for steping up to help me! P.S. becky send a request ask for "Something to talk about" "BY SOMEONE SPECIAL" ok. Smiler You'll see why. voice of an angel (that was a hint).

dj, I'm so glad and happy you got all this worked out in your head and mind.

Whew, I was nervous.

Welcome back. We need someone like you to give us some good ole time rock and roll. And, I believe you need us.

I'm also very relieved to hear you have DJ Angel as a back up and close friend. We all need someone who unconditionally has our back, when we are out of whack. Oh I made a rhyme there.

Sarg, the key is, as long as we're still able, to learn from events like your wandering in the cold rain. What you discovered is your boundary on how stressed you can get before you tune out, and the dementia feels like walking.

Is this your first wandering episode? Also, are you on a medication like Seroquel?

Sarg, I have a strange question, and I don't want you to feel bad if you can't answer it: What can you remember about the day or two leading up to your wandering episode? Were there new quirks in your thinking? Gaps increased in memory? Mood changes? Anything?

I'm really curious, because while I haven't precisely had a wandering episode, I feel like it's in my future. I know I could just be looking for trouble, but there are reasons. As a child, teenager, and adult, it's done me good to take a hike, a long walk, or maybe something that's the intellectual equivalent. I wonder if that could be the seed of eventually starting to wander.

Sarg and others,

As one who has observed three others through to the end of this disease and watching two other who are far worse off than me, I think it is a common occurrence to go through this 'got offended' or 'offended someone by accident' situation.

If we can get habituated to at least checking in with someone, this forum, an understanding family member, etc. we will find that these brain farts are transient. It think it is one of the most important things to try to remember. Maybe it deserves a note on the bathroom mirror. We have a community that will always be her to check back in with.

As a side note, I follow a brain injury forum where the non-injured moderators will kick you off if you have a brain fart online. The mTBI patients are more prone to brain farts that dementia/AD, in my experience. We should consider ourselves lucky to have this community to share with.

Regarding wandering. My father wore out bike tires and then shoes after he felt insecure on a bike taking looong excursions. They were always on the same routes, some just longer than others. He wore a clear plastic pouch around his neck with his first name visible and the other information hidden. This created an awareness and familiarization to others seeing him on a regular basis. As he lost cognitive skills, he shortened his routes but never got lost. He would occasionally stop and have to regain his orientation in later times.

These repetitive habits were of great value to him. They were his last sense of independence. We got him a locating cell phone to carry but never had to use it to find him. He could never figure out how to call with it so he just carried it turned on.

My family could tell this routine was of great benefit to him, to the point that they would encourage him to 'get going.' He took a cockapoo with him the last year and a half.

After he passed, my mom started taking Joey on the same route and was amazed by how many people recognized Joey and asked about my dad. She realized that this walk was a social event for my dad and Joey.

The important thing we came to understand was that my dad had started these walks long before he became at risk of getting lost. This overlearned skill and the awareness of those he met on his walk were likely why he could continue to have this 'independence' up to six months before his passing.

So, I would encourage establishing routine routes for these walks and being obvious to those along the way. The sooner the better. later, one may not be able to store the route into memory.

I miss the walking route I used to have. Developers built up the whole area and it is to chaotic of a route now. I would walk down an agricultural drainage canal access road, cross the canal at one of the various bridges and walk back the other side. Now, the houses are in the way.

For what i can remeber Alan and what i have been told is starting a few days before things go bad i start getting night and day confused my memory gets worse more short term. I forget things i should know like that i have sizours, that My gram and grap are not here anymore, where i live, who i am..some times i will forget if i ate or not.. it seems to bldg up and then everything goes to *&^% in a hand basket. But it seems like after one i dont recover all the way. Like there was damage done and wont come back.

This is not my 1st time wondering off, there have been many before this one. I have lost count.

Yes Alan there is a change in my mood (but that is always changen but it does get worse). I get very moody and some times nasty mean. I have to be told repeatedly things to remeber.

Cool Mark i am amazed how you are able to explain and break down in to a way i can understand. if i had tried to explain that well.. it would be the longest post in the time of computers, lol (come on now that was funny).

For real mark, when i read that all kinds of things poped in my mind. The good ol days in the air force, u know S.S.S. having had by 0530. You know for years after i retired i just did it everyday never gave much thought to it just did it.

When that wore off me and a friend of mine would meet every saturday moring at the same place at the same time. We didnt even have to order, they see us walk in and start our norm orders. After a few months and then years we knew more about our new saturday mornings friends then i think they did. I remember when i was on the DWI joint task force lordy you could set your watch by my hmmmmm what would you call it.. lol.. freeby hot spots, 7-11, stop and go, coffee shops (i had the times down pat on what time the 1st run of donuts would be ready).. now i wonder why im big as a house.(hope you dont believe that, well some of it)

I still have things i do that are a given, things i do everyday i dont even think about, lunch dates once a week with mama2 and my buddy, same place almost same day every week (i think i have asked almost all the waitress to marry me no takers yet). Yes i would have never realy noticed that... i think i will start tryn to do that, hmmm maybe looking up new music, ppl are always trading and then you find out whats hot and whats not. lol shhhhh thats cheating isnt. wwwweeeeeeeee wow Mark Good Morning all ^5's all round Big Grin

Been tuned in all night with DJ^Angel's stream she loves country but i bet she would have to would get in a minute or less. Yep she's got it like that. lol ooo my my this time change has me all messed up. this should be a adventour.

ROCK ON!!!! Its A Lovely Monday Morning at that...

Hey Sarg, me and time aren't well acquainted nowadays. That makes it difficult to catch your show. Is there a way to play back old ones I've missed?

Y'know what would be a fantastic, award-winning show? Something that exposes us older guys to the best of the new music that's out now. Songs from the current hot acts, that would expose me to their style, that'd help me figure out who's new that I might like.

Cool Thank You Lisa, Its been a very, very very long last few days. Learned alot forgot alot but made some darn good friends here.

Right now DJ^Angel has the stream for me while i sort out some of my music and come back biger and better. I sure hope you all heard DJ^Tong (Gus) he is one good kid, he is my Gus. One of a very few great friends!

I hope to have the stream back wensday night, i will keep you all up todate. But im fairly sure i will be back on the air myself wensday night.

I am going to try and do a live set wensday at 7pm my time (Indiana). I will try to do a two - three hour set. It will be a very mixed set, some of everything. Be sure to let me know what type of music you would like to hear.

I have been keeping a eye on the numbers of people tuned in and when the peak times are. I can sure tell we all are in differnt time zones, lol.

PLEASE let me know if any of the music offends you, i try to keep the music and sound effects clean as far as race, sex ect... i have been known to get a little wild at times and have a R rated sets from time to time.

Please keep in mind this station is not regulated by the same FCC rules as a reg AM or FM station. So please keep that in mind when tuning in later at night.

Hope you all are enjoying the music.
