The four chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association in Missouri have a federal grant to provide special services to families/individuals coping with early stage dementia. We are particularly interested in reaching out to those under age 65, since your needs may not be specifically addressed through other programs. The Missouri chapters can serve a family if either the care partner or the person with memory loss lives in Missouri.

The grant allows the Missouri chapters to provide

1. Free one-on-one care consultations for anyone dealing with early stage dementia (normally a $50 charge). These are private meetings in which we will help your family identify current needs, plan for the future and deal with your specific questions and concerns. The care consultation can include the person with dementia if he/she would like to participate.

2. The grant also provides funding for “unmet needs” identified in the care consultation—things like driving assessments, attorney fees (if power of attorney documents need to be drawn up), grab bars for the bathroom, transportation for the person with dementia—basically anything that might help improve quality of life and safety for the person with dementia.

If your family might be helped, call 1-800-272-3900 for more info.
