Had my nero. appt. today after work, 3:30pm. Left his office at 5:45pm and I'm really concerned with this 1 test. A EEG.
He told me I have to stay up until 2:00am and then get up at 5:00am and arrive at the local hospital at whatever the time is scheduled for.
I'm such a morning person and alone and I have no idea on how to stay awake until 2:00am.
This is the toughest 1 yet. I don't think I'll be able to handle this 1 by myself, any suggestions?

Marcia, are you allowed caffeine? Strong coffee is still what works for me.

Also, when you start to feel sleepy, rub an ice cube along the back of your neck. Take a walk. Snack a little. Post on the Alzheimer's forum. Re-arrange your closets. Bake bread and stuff you make from scratch. Find a 24-hour store, like your grocery store or a Wal-Mart, and browse.

OK, that's a start. Who's next?

Marcia,

Alan has given you some wonderful tips. You may, also, have friends/family call you and check-up on you.

Call the AD Helpline for advice too 800-272-3900.

Go shopping or browsing! Smiler (don't forget your cell phone for safety).

Listen to some lively music. Get some ice cream. Big Grin

Talk with an old friend. Don't forget to get up and walk around! Perhaps a little light exercise?!

Watch an Action Movie???

The ICE THING is good!

Some teas have more caffeine than coffees. Be careful, don't get too wired!

Good Luck.

Please, let us know how it goes.

next????

Make a list of questions to ask your doctor!! Wink

Marcia,

Been there, tried to do that.

I had to stay up all night because the neurologist wanted an EEG with a sleep session. I arrive at the EEG lab and there were workmen in the next room pounding with hammers the whole time. Never could get to sleep. The EEG tech tried to get them to stop pounding until the test was over and got written up for his efforts.

Here, I was the one who spent over 24 hours in preparation and taking the test and it was a total waste. They would not redo the EEG.

I hope your's went better than mine.

I'm fine Lisa, thank you for asking. No word yet on the upcoming appt. but I'm not worried about it now.
I'll do what I need to do!
Hugs,
Marcia
