Come Glow With Us is taking place again this year and we ask that you once again join us and also spread the word.

Come Glow With Us is a campaign started to shed a little light on the thousands of primary caregivers who give of their time and their compassion, to ease the journey of those they love.

In many cases their work is unnoticed, unappreciated, unpaid.
They toil day after day, often in isolation, suffering along with their loved ones.

They are the invisible victims of Alzheimer and other long term illness.

The Come Glow with Us campaign began in 2006 to mark the 100 anniversary of Dr Alois Alzheimer discovering the plaques and tangle traits of Alzheimer’s disease.

In response to our invitation “glowers” lit up the night skies from California to Florida, Vancouver to Newfoundland, (23 states and eight provinces were represented) as well as Ireland, England, Scotland and Australia.

This October 1 - we ask that you help us make the glow even brighter.
Place the spot light on caregivers and light up our lives, so we know you care about those who someday, may be caring for you.

All you need do is place one string of Christmas lights somewhere prominent, and plug them in at 8 pm October 1.
Every hour that night - new sets of lights will glow as the clock turns eight in each time zone.

Give us hope of a better tomorrow - show you care - Come Glow With Us.

You do not have to be a caregiver to take part - you just have to care.

Also want to invite you to log on to www.freewebs.com/alzheimerglowers. It’s a website set up by a caregiver in British Columbia, for Come Glow With Us. We are encouraging people to sign the guest book so everyone can keep track of how many people are going to “glow” this year.

In years past I tried to keep everyone posted with a list of places that would glow - as well as keep this note at the top. I'll try to do the same this year but I'm going through a particularly rough patch at the moment, I'm sure you've all been there - so could use some help with at least keeping this notice where it will be seen by the most people.
The campaign is about making people aware of what we do. As all caregivers have learned - becoming informed and gaining knowledge is the first step.

Caregivers - friends - neighbors - policy makers and politicians - Come Glow With Us.

Saint Lucie County Fl. will be glowing. I posted your thread on our community forum

Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That is how the light gets in.

Hi Cin!
Orion, S.E. Michigan will be glowing, 4th year in a row! I am going to find some purple lights, if I can.
Thanks, Cin!

I will contact my Mom in Grayling, again, and get the Seniors going!

Hi Meeko,
When you go to Cin's site, do you click on "Guestbook"? An "index card" looking window should be at the bottom, where you can put in your name, area, and a message. What happens, when you go there?

And as the days pass and the sun’s brilliance shines down on you and your heart is suddenly embraced by peace and love perhaps the soft breeze on your cheek is not the wind at all but a kiss from the fluttering wings of a beautiful angel.

Just wanted to bring this to the top again and urge any and everyone to Come Glow with Us. As in years past caregivers and friends from Australia to Florida - Nova Scotia to British Columbia will be lighting the night skies in support of caregivers.
The Glow site is not set up by me but by another caregiver. She will be making adjustments whenever she can get a moment. I'm sure you all know how that goes...
If it doesn't work for you just note your location here. Once I have a list I'll post it.
Thanks for your patience and your support.
Awareness is the first step to change.

Off to a slow start worldwide this year - but still a good cross representation. Here in Nova Scotia the provincial Caregivers Association have taken on the campaign advertising it across the province so we should have a good glow on the east coast.
Caregivers in Australia will once again start us off 8 pm their time Oct.1.
We also have glowers from Quebec, Ontario Alberta, British Columbia - St. Lucie Co., Florida, Orion SE Michigan and Grayling Michigan.
Will you join us in shining a light on the contribution made by caregivers world wide ?
Awareness is the first step to any solution.

Tomorrow is the day to Come Glow With Us. So far we have glowers slated to light up the night skies in Australia, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, (coast to coast in Canada) - Florida, Michigan and Texas. Love to see more glows across the majestic United States. Won't you join us. Just take one string of Christmas lights - place them in a prominent spot on your house or property and light them at 8 pm October 1. The idea is every hour a new set of lights will glow that night as it becomes 8 pm in each of the time zones. Symbolically passing the torch !!! Shining a light on caregivers !!

Fabulous Iris - welcome aboard and thank you.

Hopefully next year we will span the globe and I will be in a better place in my head (and home) to really promote this. Rough spell and exhaustion this year - but getting through it one baby step at a time. Tomorrow WILL BE a better day !!!
If I say that often enough I might even believe it lol....
