She will be seen at her NH but could be moved to the hospice if they cannot get the pain under control and Medicare will pay for that. The nurse also told me that sometimes if the patients stop eating and drinking they will not let them stay at the NH and then they will move them to Hospice.
Inpatient hospice costs less per day than the NH so if she is really at the end stages that would make sense to do the move. So I am still doing my research on hospice and recommend all of you research the options before you need to do it. I should have done more research but I think I will be happy with this one and I can always switch if I am not satisfied. There are five different ones that have agreements with the NH. |

Good Luck to you. What a hard thing to have to make these decsions at a time that has to be emotionally difficult.
I have no advice or input on hospices, but take care and I am sure that you will make good decisions for your mom. "... Other than that, I am doing just great!" E. Pessano |

I'm really sorry about your Mom. I dont know much about "hospice NH",,,I would imagine that some are better than others,,so its a good thing that you will be doing in depth homework about checking things out.
My Dad was on Hospice,,but we kept him home and provided the care for him,,,hospice was only ok,,they did send an aide out 3x's a week to wash him,,as he was completely bedridden,,and hospice also provided all the medication that he needed. Other than that,,,I did the rest...Mom tried to help as best as she could. Best of luck to you ,,please keep us updated. Peace |
