Yes I keep forgetting about this thread and sometimes overlook the good things that happen.

I've taken mom to our local town Caruthers fair every year for a long time to see Jeremy Pierce, Elvis impersonator. I thought last year would be the last as she was declining so fast, and this year she's been pretty weak and passing out a lot. But I managed to get her ready to go last night with several mishaps and stress and she did really well, better than I expected. She was pretty aware and lively. A wonderful surprise and fun time for the both of us, but we're pretty sore and exhausted today. I might try and take her at least one more time before the fair ends Saturday. I've gotten in such a rut of just wanting to stay home. It feels safer for some reason, but last night made me realize I need to get us both out as much as possible, it felt really good. We think that they are no longer aware of things, but last night proved that to be wrong for me.

Here's a photo, me mom Elvis:

While my husband was away on business, he texted me to say that he knows how hard it has been for me to take care of my mom, but he is very proud of how I am handling it. He told me I was a good role model for my girls and they will always remember this. That made me smile -he is generally a man of few words!

I have been struggling to keep my husband's weight steady. We are on the Mediterranean diet (OK, a reasonable facsimile thereof), since that has been shown to be helpful in preventing/slowing AD, but it isn't really great for packing on the calories! He gets full very quickly, and I always have to coax him into eating more.

Yesterday, he ate a big breakfast, and ate all of his lunch without a quibble -- unusual these days. We went for our walk, and when we came back, I settled him in front of the TV while I checked on these boards. After a few minutes, I heard the faint clank of bottles, and went to investigate. Husband had his nose buried in the refrigerator, searching for something to snack on! Eeker

A lovely woman helped me during a customer service telephone call when I was having trouble with my computer and a store website. She couldn't have been nicer or more patient.

Namaste.

Today after visiting my sister and meeting her new grand-daughter, we hug (sis hugged me extra tighter) and then my sister gave me a big kiss on the cheek! I was surprised and kissed her back. That was a first for us (kiss on cheek) and it made me feel loved and appreciated.

Hearing my husband whistling and happy! While we were seperated for about 2 years he was seldom happy. But today, now that we have been reunited for awhile, I realized, I was hearing him being absolutely happy?! And what made him so happy - just having me near him. What a blessing and no small miracle, just to be with him again. I don't take any day for granted since we have been back together again.

Watched a video of the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, it was very touching and interesting. Lived there all my life and just now heard about them??? Roll Eyes That's where I'm heading for my birthday, to see the parrots. Nothing makes me smile more than nature and animals, except chocolate and pie.

Oh goodness, I found this all the way over on the second page!

My good thing yesterday was another one of my pie salons. I made a pecan-pumpkin pie and we were seven friends sipping coffee and eating pie at 10:30 in the morning. Isn't that just the most civilized thing you've ever heard?

My good thing today was an extra hour of sleep!!

Ruthie-Ray, it was very UNcivilized of you not to invite me. Really, now. You know I start drooling every time you talk about your pies.

It was a very rough week - first my mom was in urgent care for UTI, then she tore her meniscus getting in and out of my SUV (who knew that could happen?) Had a two day hospital stay that either myself or my sister (who was thankfully visiting from NY) had to stay with her 24/7, husband out of town, used all vacation time off of work - you get the picture!! Even after all of that, i can actually still think of a few good things....
1. My sister did all of my laundry while I was at hospital Smiler
2. My 13 year old daughter gave me the biggest hug and kiss after not seeing me for 2 days. If any of you have 13 year old daughters, you know how rare a moment that can be!! It was delicious!
3. I didn't buy my halloween candy in advance, which means I didn't eat it all by Halloween!
4. Lost 4 pounds.
5. My mother was in a great mood the night that I slept with her at hospital - she actually slept through the WHOLE night!! : )

Ha ha JAB, just wait for the November pie! I'm planning a pear pie with streusel topping and a caramel sauce that's added for the last 10 minutes of baking.

sueliz those are GREAT things!!

My good thing so far today was impressing a client with a draft this morning, when it wasn't expected until Wednesday.

Awww fred aren't you sweet! Wink

Good thing today: my next-door neighbor's kitty brought me a lovely dead bird. Okay, well, that's not the good part. He had been clawing at my good couch, so I put him outside, and he came back with the bird as a present, I think, to make amends. Isn't that sweet? Beats me how he could yowl so loudly to get in with a bird in his mouth!

Good thing today: a friend managed to get cheap tickets to the symphony tonight, so we're going on the spur of the moment. Should be lovely -- Mendelssohn and a piano concerto by Clara Schumann (Robert Schumann's wife, and the person who inspired him to abandon his law studies and pursue a career in music), and more Mendelssohn (music from A Midsummer Night's Dream).

Definitely a good thing!

I read a quote from one of the Inspirational words/quotes threads which Nessa shared.
It was by Lewis Thomasy and reminded me... very elegantly... how amazing it is that each of us is even alive.

Thank you Nessa.
Namaste.
