Hi everyone,
I've been feeling so miserable and negative lately that I decided to start a thread where people can post ONE GOOD THING that happened to them that day. It could be a success with your LO, or it could be a work success or just a moment when you took time to smell the roses. Imagine all the positive vibes if we each post one good thing every day.

Here's to (at least trying) to think positively!

This is my entry for today:
I submitted an article for approvals, and both approvers said, "Don't change a single word!" It made me feel really good.

Ruthie Ray, this is a great idea! Today, I brought my fiance two chocolate bars that I bought to benefit a school fundraiser and I wish I'd had a video camera for his reaction. He is a chocolate "addict", and he was fresh out of chocolate. He laughed and shouted with joy that I was "marvelous"! It brought me a giggle. Now I have to go and nag him not to eat too much of it. LOL!

the good thing that happened to me today was a client noticing the daffodils that I had brought to work from my garden. It made us both smile.

It's a good idea to be able to focus on the positive. I've been really "down" lately too. In the past week my DH has won the highest award that IBM gives, our Youth Center's Volunteer of the Year award and now he's in the running for the Volunteer of the Year award through the Volunteer Center of our city. He's such a great guy and I'm so proud of him.

We got our DPOA, MPOA/Advanced directives all done today. Our wills will be done at next meeting. That made me smile.

AND~ during our meeting our atty got a "beep" into the room (usually its a do not disturb type meeting) to alert him to the news that he just had a Grandson born at the hospital up the street. They didn't know the babies gender, but his son was sure hoping for a boy. The atty said, "God is SOOOO Good!" Really personalized this guy for me.

Today I was able to trim grass beside the walk and clean the border about half way up the front of the house. It looks as if someone lives here. Tonight I know why I am tired and it feels so good.

A doctor actually did something he said he was going to do! My daughter is on home teaching for an illness, the home teaching ran out today. The doctor was supposed to fill out this huge form to extend it, and I was afraid he would just blow it off because it was so long. He filled it out! Now that's one less thing to worry about.

Our copier at work today "died" so had to "borrow" the one at the next door office. Their receptionist told me she liked my outfit. Made my day!

I work in a lawyer's office and we had a will signing at the end of the day. Imagine my surprise when it was my 80+ year old music teacher from grade school!! Brought back wonderful memories that my husband and I could talk about tonight.

Mom was upset earlier, but then called me later and told me she was over worrying about everything (wish wish) but made me smile.

I guess those are three good things. Lets keep this one going!

Blessings.

I decorated my mother's room for Easter with bunnies, chicks and honeycombed and colored paper eggs. She really enjoyed it.

I got ALL the tax things together, completed and ready for my parents income tax. Hurray!

I got the Financial Accounting Statements completed and ready for mailing to the siblings.

I felt the sun touching my face like a comforting hand and the air outside smells so good.

I organized my life! The things I had pushed aside simply becuz I didnt want to deal with them, took my many lists, combined into ONE obtainable one. I think Spring time helps too. Ive organized the list of plantings for fruits and vegies too. And Ive managed to save money even on less income than before DH went on medicaid!

Now I can breathe and feel alittle less stress.

thank you Johanna
This forum has been a world of change for me. Without it, i'd still be crying and floundering and o poor me! lol But its helped to see that light too, and i just need to stay focused. RuthieRay did a good thing with this thread! If we can all see the positive in every day , or even every other day, it will help us to recover faster so we can help others.

My wife, the artist, is in the studio painting. We did a show a couple weeks ago and only sold one painting. It was a downer.
Just got an e mail from the woman who bought the painting saying it hangs in the living room and every morning she sees it after leaving the bedroom and it makes her smile. Her husband also likes it and wants to come to our next show to buy more and meet us. She said we are such an inspirational and caring couple. I had told her of Jan's diagnosis. It is so nice to be able to share Jan's talents with the world.
Love gil

My mom called to say that her friend Carmen is picking her up and they're going to do something together. Yay!
She is one of two remaining friends who ever do stuff with my mom. And the other, bless his heart, is 87 and not as mobile as he once was.

It's such a luxury, and a rare treat, to know that someone else is providing mom with some much-needed stimulus.

Today I took my son to the dentist to get his teeth cleaned Big Grin He was happy and I was happy( I had gone to a different dentist a couple of days before and he said my son needed two fillings, needed surgery on his wisdom teeth as they were impacted , and had some gum disease(the new doctor said he did not need fillings that she was going to seal them there was one tiny dot on one of them he did not need them filled and she said his wisdom teeth were starting to come up that if we wait a few months they can be pulled. He also did not have gum disease. I think the other doc. was trying to screw us. (excuse my language) He told me I needed to get a crown, needed to replace my front teeth (for cosmetic reasons $5,000 bucks!!!! my teeth are not that bad . We had just gone for a cleaning!!!! We got our cleaning at the new doc. and you can bet I am not going to go back to the other dentist ever again in my life!!!!!. I feel good!!!!!!!!

Ruthie-Ray got me thinking: Here's something cool...If you play an instrument, or just like to sing, and want to play live with me, I can show you how Smiler Join with me on Yahoo Instant Messenger. With a microphone and headphones we can play "live" music together and write songs about life as a caregiver etc. We can have multiple folks playing together at the same time ! This is a very new idea and nobody else is doing it. Check out www.myspace.com/soccertommsw. Send me an email and I'll help you from there Smiler

I took the most awesome hike yesterday, Snow all the way up... 1hr straight uphill, heart pumping, great views and when you get to the top the view is so beautiful.. And I just sat and laughed and talked with my daughter. Then we headed down and went out for ceviche and chips and salsa...
Then to NH to visit MIL and she was in such a good mood..

A great day...

I asked my sweetheart if he could make a flower box for me to hang under the kitchen window. Poof! It was done almost as fast as I had asked and now it is full of Gerbera daisies, Snap Dragons, beautiful blue Phlox and yellow flowers I don't know the name of. While I wash dishes and look out over the front yard, I have the most delicious view you can imagine!Come on spring...

Oh Krista that sounds so beautiful!!! I'm going to get mom to help my plant my window box geraniums next weekend!

My "one good thing" today was that a Norwegian client of mine sent me a bunch of editing that she needs for tomorrow! That might not sound like a good thing, but it enabled me to not feel guilty about only spending the morning with mom...AND I made $500 at the same time! Hee hee!!

Ruthie,
What a wonderful thread! This may save many a caregiver for yet one more daySmiler

It reminds me of Oprah's gratitude journal, and doesn't being grateful (for just one little thing) change everything?

My husband handed me my cup of coffee while I was still in bed. WOW. It only took 28 years to train him to do that.

Good puppySmiler

Hee heee...I'm so glad everyone likes this thread!

My good thing today requires some history to explain: Mom has a bank that she deals with for her day-to-day things. She is capable of scuttling down there and taking out money (then walking around with $800 in an envelope in her purse and flashing hundreds to all as she pays for groceries etc.)

We have a joint account at another bank. That's what I use to pay her rent, utilities, taxes, etc. It's crucial that she not withdraw funds from that bank! (I think she's forgotten all about that one, but who knows, right?)

Anyway, I just had the bank put a $200 limit and a note to call me if she ever shows up and asks for more than that.

Long story for one small win. It pleased me immensely though. Am I a control freak? Oh yes, yes I am! Wink

My Tuesday good thing was that I was able to get mom's beloved jacket away from her long enough to mend it. (There's a nightmarish account of the actual mending process in the weird humor thread.)

My Wednesday good thing is that I'm enjoying having extra room to move around in my office, now that my DH put up some shelving for me!!

I was a jerk at work today and did not get caught. I left my business card on a car with a snotty note, "don't park in my space". I then found out that I was mistaken as to my assigned space number. I ran to the parking garage and thankfully my note was still there - so I grabbed it and threw it in the trash.

Lesson Learned. Never "ready, fire, aim".

My grandaughter just turned two and has learned the art of jumping. When she jumps her little legs come up practically to her chest and her body seems to not move at all. She was just outside playing and took about three consecutive jumps. It looked so funny, I couldnt help but laugh. Children can always seem to make you laugh, even on rough day.
