This is a note to everyone that Hospice is not just for your last month or 6 months it is for when you need it!! Your doctor should at least discuss this option with you. If all else fails call the local Hospice and ask them for their criteria and for a doctor's name that understands & believes in Hospice as a choice.

Should explain this thread. I went to a Alz support group and the caregivers there had no idea that some of them would benefit from the services of Hospice so just want people to think of them as I had a good experience when my dad died of CA and will use as soon as my mother appears to be in that need. Thanks for this site.

Hospice can be brought in in what they call.."Failure to thrive" which can have a fairly broad interpretation.

My doc was great and agrred at the first signs that he should be evaluated for hospice. He was taken immediately.
