A Day Care I'm looking at requires you to sign an agreement as to how many days a week you will attend. We would be billed monthly and it appears we pay the fee for so many days whether she goes each day or not. Is this the usual- paying a fee for a day you do not attend?

Well ours didn't. They billed monthly, but it was based on the number of days she actually attended. I think we did have to agree up front to certain days of the week, but given the way they scheduled activities I understood their reasoning. If mom was sick we had to call and let them know but we weren't billed for those days. Wonder what others have experienced?

This is the case with my father's day care. It was explained to us, that lunches are ordered in advance and also there is the shuttle service that is scheduled in advance. We do have to call if he' not coming, but we are still charged if doesn't go.

Well, now that I think about it maybe we were too. I know we told mom we were charged if she didn't go, but I thought it was just our "theraputic fib"??? Smiler

Thank you everyone. Little Red, I couldn't use the charge thing as a "therapeutic fib" because she'd never go if she thought she was having to pay!!

With the place my mom goes, you have to call out sick by 8 AM or you get billed for the meal. They do not charge for the day if you call out sick.

But they understand the people going there have medical issues so they expect people to be sick.

When my Grandma used to go to daycare, you were supposed to be there when you said you would be there because they actually had a waiting list of people who needed to go to the ADC. You were charged for the lunch if you didn't go. You could miss four days a year unless there was a hospitalization without being charged.
I had a really erratic schedule, so we didn't have to conform to certain days or times, but she never ate their food- I packed her a lunch to heat in the microwave.

My mother went to day care at the alz care facility that she is now at full time. It was really nice because we were only billed if she was there and she could go any time we needed her to go (within reason). Sometimes she would go from 2:00PM to 8:00PM.

I know that there was another alz. facilty in our area that would do the same thing. I worked in the late afternoon so it worked great for us. You might check out an alz. care facility or assisted living for memory care in your area and see if they offer day care.

At my mother's daycare, we had to commit to at least two specific days/week. She could go additional days if we called ahead.

I don't think they charged us if she were ill but usually we made up any missed days. They had a wonderful staff and their paychecks depended on income.

This was a private alz daycare with excellent activities for folks at the early to mid stages--discussion groups on history and art and poetry, etc., lots of music, exercise.

The day care I'm looking into has a "Service Agreement". It's states that you will be billed monthly. She will need to go at least 2 days and if she misses no refunds except for illnesses requiring hospitalization. I think this is done this way because they need to order lunches and have the right amount of staff on hand.
