Dear Online Community Members,
We have recently made some changes to our registration process and our online community guidelines that will help us continue offering a place where people can come together to share questions, ideas, triumphs and struggles that revolve around Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Both of these changes will be enacted on May 7, 2008. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience. What this means for you: - Registration process – the new registration process will require that you have an active email account. • If the email account with your current profile is no longer active, please go into your profile and update it to a valid email account. It is essential that this is completed before May 7, 2008. • Steps to update profile: 1. Log in. 2. Click on “my profile” at the top of the page. 3. Click on “view/edit complete profile”. 4. Click on “edit groupee credentials”. 5. Delete your old email address and enter a new, valid email address with a password. 6. Click submit. 7. You will receive an email from Groupee (the company that provides the software and tech support for our community). Click on the link in the email. This will verify your address. You will now be able to access and use the system as before. • If you are unable to update your profile before May 7, 2008, you will have to create a new profile and unfortunately, you won’t be able to use your current user name (the system will think it has already been taken). • In addition to this posted message, we will also be emailing this information out to all registered community members in an effort to reach as many people as possible. - Online Community Guidelines – You will be asked to click a box stating that you have read and agree to the new online community guidelines. You will only have to do this once (not every time you log in). This process with the new guidelines will be launched on May 7, 2008. A brief summary of the new guidelines is as follows: • The Alzheimer’s Association is not responsible for the content of the online community, including but not limited to, accuracy, integrity or quality of content. • Derogatory messages will not be tolerated. • For your safety and security, the Alzheimer’s Association discourages the posting of personal information such as emails, addresses or phone numbers. • Content from the online community is not to be copied and pasted into yours or another’s blog, chat room or any other online communication. • The Alzheimer’s Association, at our sole discretion, reserves the right to pre-screen, refuse or remove any content available via the online community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at onlinecommunity@alz.org. Thank you for your cooperation. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kelli M, |
