Mom was hospitalized last Fri. w/ pneumonia, UTI, and then she had a seizure (which she's been having for over a year).
She came home yesterday. EEG and CT scan and prescribed Phenytoin (the generic Dilantin). Now she's grunting, and having other side effects. But what bothers me most is that the neurologist and doctors do not seem to understand or know about ADs reacting differently from other people when on meds. Any of you know of problems giving Phenytoin to people with AD? I'm already ready to suffer the seizures with her rather than have her acting the way she is on this Dilantin. It's awful! I am not allowed just to stop the Dilantin and I understand that. But I have intentions of taking her to the neurologist in a couple of weeks to look into this further. I just thought I'd come to the place that has always had THE answer. Saribet |

Since she needs a neurologist anyway, how about switching her to a neurologist who specializes in AD? It'd be a two-fer
