The past 2 days mom hasn't been the same I felt something was really wrong. Called nurse to come check her out. She said she has an upper resp. infection and they started her on oxygen, antibiotics and cough meds with codine as well as breathing treatments here at home. The nurse also felt she was in a decline neurologically and said we would treat this and then see how she is doing as this is a priority at this time. Her blood pressure was low and she has been having blurred (foggy) vision. She seems to be failing alot this week. I am just praying it is just the infection causing all the problems and that she will at least get back to the way she was before this happened. The nurse mentioned something I never heard before. She said she worked neurology for yrs. and that mom's ear lobes were turned back and that was an early sign that there was a neurological decline going on and that usually shortly after that you would see other signs of decline. I am still believing for her that it is just the infection but only time will tell.
Please pray for her. Thank you all so much. It is going to be a long night giving meds and breathing treatment so often but she looked at me and smiled when I told her she could stay home with me and didn't have to be in the hospital and said so glad so much better here. That made my heart sing and worth going without sleep. Funny how those little things mean so much now. If in hospital she would be poked with needles and IV and all kinds of tests and stuff so I am so thankful she can stay home too. Thank you all for listening and being there. May God Bless Each one. |

Lana,
As hard as the situation is right now, I am so glad your Mom is at home with you. I think it is so important, if circumstances allow, to keep our LO's at home with us. I was very fortunate in that I could do that with my Mother during our journey together. Tonight may be a long one for you, but remember, it is in the dark and silent night that God continues to watch over you both. If you can, sit quietly for a few moments and feel God touching your heart. My thoughts, prayers and love to you and your Mom, Joyce "I slept and dreamt that life was all joy. I awoke and saw that life was but service. I served and understood that service was joy." R. Tagore |

Lana Jo,
I just read the other post where you and I have been talking about the tremors. I was going to respond tomorrow and I still will, but right now I'm more concerned about what's going to be happening with you and your Mom tonite. You know, it's times like this when you wish the people that you've grown to care for on this forum, lived right next door to you so you could give them a hand. Well hon, my hand is open for you, and it sounds like it's going to be a rough nite for you. I can't be with you physically, but you are in my heart tonite. Let me know tomorrow if you get a chance, how Mom is doing. Boy, it sure sounds like your mom and mine could be twins. Their even the same age. There habits with coffee, water, liquids, eating etc., seem exactly the same. Actually, I'm going to email you with my email address if thats ok. Talk to you later. Love and prayers, Jackie |

Dear Lana,
I just said a little prayer for you and mom. I hope that you both had a good nights sleep. May the Lord keep you both in His care. Peace be with you, Marcie Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. St. Francis of Assisi |

Lana, was just reading your post about your mom smiling at you, when you told her she didn't have to go in the hospital, how precious time with our loved ones are now. I never thought I'd be able to take care of mom like I am, but God has given me the strengh that I need and I'm so grateful. I'll keep you and your mom in my prayers. I hope she continues to feel better. My mom seems to do worse when she's sick as well. God Bless You Both, Mari

Lana Jo,
I would think any kind of illness/infection would affect our LO's mental status adversely, so I am glad to hear she is being treated and able to stay home with you at her side. I will keep you and your mom in my thoughts and prayers. "Some people think it is holding on that makes one strong.....sometimes it's letting go." |

May God bring you and your dear mom comfort, strength and restoration.
