It hit me Saturday how different the AD Memory Walk is from other fundraising walks. When you do the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, it is lead off by survivors. There are also people battling the disease who walk and people who are in remission. So not only loved ones but people with the disease are walking.

With AD, there are no survivors, so they can't do a survivor lap. There is no real remission - once it starts it never backs off. Most people I know with the disease really have no clue they have it, so they would not understand this cause. There are so few with the disease who can even do the walk that it is all loved ones. It was just overwhelming how widespread this disease is.

Congratulations, Sue!
My Son and I walked with Joyce43 in August, in Memory of her Husband, Bill, and my MIL. Joyce had made every walker a shirt with his heartwarming smile on it!

They(AA) ran out of the purple shirts, but I finally got mine in the mail, yesterday. I will wear it as often as it is clean, for AD Awareness Month(Nov.)

Let us know how your walk did!
Nina

On this page:
Alz Assoc. Memory Walks

you can click on the USA map, and find one near you, or info on how to start one. There are still a few in Georgia. A lot of the walks have been done. Check your state!
