We just got home from the doctors. Sometimes I think it's a waste of time. She lost 3 more pounds, I found it! She nows weighs 89lbs. We talked about sundowners. He wants me to give her her meds at dinner time and at bed time. I hoping this will work. I doubt it! I'm beginning to think it is what it is. I'm wondering what to say to her when she wants to know why my dad didn't come home? He passed away 10yrs ago. I change the subject. My brother passed away 21yrs ago from Aids, she never talks about him and they were very close. Do you think she has forgotten about him? God Bless all of you and your familys

Rosemarie,
If you think seeing the doctor is a waste of time, perhaps you need a new doctor. Take his suggestions, sometimes changing the time of day meds are taken is helpful. And sometimes, "it is what it is". Blessings to you! "dj" daughter of mother with AD "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 |

Rosemary, changing the subject like you've been doing is good. You could also say he called and will be home soon, or is off with Joe, his best friend - that kind of thing. Hard to know if she's forgotten your brother or not. My mom never mentions my dad, who died ten years ago. Most of what she does mention happened long before they were married. I often wonder what she really remembers about him, if anything. |
