Yup, we finally went coo coo! We actually posted an auction on ebay to sell "Certificates of Appreciation" for buying "Certificates of Appreciation". The stress of everything finally pushed us to insanity. If we make enough money, we are going to take mom and move to a small tropical island and sell seashells to tourists. Next step...sell our kids on Ebay...the our plan will be complete! Fran

Excellent ideas! I'll take one "certificate of appreciation" along with a couple of sea shells but hold on the kids, too high maintenance. *laughing*

I want to know how much you get for the kids! Heck! If I'd known that you could sell them on e-bay I might have had a few!! Big Grin

You are too funny! How are things going for you and hubby - I know it's been a stressful time.

By the way, I think I hear your kids packing their suitcases!

I would "love" to sell our 3 1/2 year-old Jack Russell-Boxer!!! DM found her at the pound, and she was SOOOOOOOOOO cute, but it was obvious that she would be more than DM could handle. I went to the pound with her, at my brother's insistence, to talk her out of adopting the dog. Every objection I raised (not house-broken, high energy, needed a fenced-in yard, did I mention HIGH ENERGY???) was met by the comment "What's the matter with that?" So they bathed the dog and DM took her home.

The following day, DM came to our house for Easter. (This was before her diagnosis, by the way, and she was still driving.) She brought "What's the matter with that?" with her, along with her crate, bedding and toys. Needless to say, "What's the matter with that" is now OUR dog! DM is convinced that I really wanted the dog, which I didn't. We already had a dog and a cat. Our old dog passed away, after a year of being terrorized by Casey, as we named her. We spent more than $600 on training, and Casey is (somewhat) calmer, but the cat has spent the last three years in hiding.

DM later adopted a beautiful standard-sized poodle from a pound, a runaway. HA! DM was used to a dog that could be let outside on its own. Not that poodle! The first time it ran away was the day she got it. My dear brother drove 50 miles to help her look for a dark gray poodle, in the dark! Darned if it didn't come home! We stopped looking for it when it ran away, because we knew that he would turn up like a bad penny. Once or twice, the dog "tracked" DM to the grocery store, and found her INSIDE the store! (Everyone but the manager was amused.) DM finally took that dog to a different pound, and she stopped talking about adopting a dog.

One day last fall I took our dear Casey to visit DM in the ALF. We took her to one of the courtyards and let her run around. Which was great until someone opened one of the doors, and Casey raced through the building until her nose led her to the kitchen, where I finally caught up with her. End of visit.

Any takers for a beautiful boxer-size high-energy Jack Russell-Boxer mix???

Sounds like a plan.
I"ll find some stuff to sell on ebay too - hmmm...snow maybe? - and will chip in for the island hideaway. My husband doesn't like to fly so he can stay here if he wants. Whatever. I'll bring my Mom and she and your Mom can sit under a beach umbrella together. I'll learn how to make jewelry from broken sea shells...

FRAN!! You have a plan? Hey I want in. Ya better find a big island though because I bet it will get crowded pretty quick with parts of your plan..ahhh..and the trouble that follows.

BL1946..any takers on a Boxer-Jack Russell mix? You have to be kidding right? I have a "Casey" of my own..So Sorry Lu..she's always sooooooo sorry she did that! Besides, you did say "our dear Casey"..sounds like she's found home already.

Great idea Fran..
