I guess I'm still learning. The medicaid took a certain amt of $$ each month from the disability check my husband received. It pays for his NH and medical bills.
But the clinic to which we both go to, insists that its my responsibility to pay the bills that his dr has ordered for him since hes been on the medicaid. Since I dont have the money for that , my bill at my clinic in one month has jumped to nearly 2000.! wich i obviously cannot pay. Until its paid, i am not allowed to go back there. And now I'm really sweating becuz I have ongoing medical needs here. And will need surgery soon. Ive called and written and explained several times, yet the outcome still, I must pay that bill. Its a separate bill from mine, with completely diff account numbers. And unless medicaid gives me the money to pay this, I thought that was covered by them. It didnt "just cross in the mail" this time. I spoke with an actual person regarding this. I'm upset, perhaps more than i should be, but what do i do now? Since i cannot pay his bills, and wont be able to see the dr for my needs, do i find a diff dr and go in as single ? what do i legally do here? |

If your husband had Medicaid while attending the clinic it is very possible that the clinic he attended did not accept Medicaid, therefore he would be responsible for the bill. Not every Doctor and clinic accepts Medicaid assignment or even Medicaid for that matter.
As for your bills, did you also have Medicaid under your own name? Just because your husband had Medicaid since he is disabled does not necessarily qualify you for Medicaid. |

I'm so sorry you're having this problem. Does the clinic not accept medicaid? If they are medicaid providers then for services rendered while your husband was covered by medicaid they should bill medicaid period.
As a second issue they shouldn't just stop your care for active problems without warning. It sounds as if the billing department is trying to intimidate you. I bet the legal department would have a different take if they suddenly refuse you care it can be construed as "abandonment? generally to terminate care there should be at least 2 warnings and then 30 days notice ( about the only exception would be behasviour that threatens the safety of staff or MD good luck with this Nicole |

They do accept medicaid, as does his dr. It took awhile to find a dr who would, but the clinic is the most expensive in the county and they accept the medicaid.
I'll speak again on monday to the biling dept, as I'm turning in documents to prove income. I had a great day spending time with myself and son earlier, to find these in the mail upon returning home. It just hit me like a brick!. I do ahve an attorny , as a last option. Hes quite expensive! Definetly a last option! According to the legal drawn documents the attorny did, Medicaid pays his medical. No I pay private insurance not thru a work, as I dont work, but thru a self employed ins co. they pay only 22% for me, and nothing for anyone i dont pay monthly for. |
