So my aunt and uncle are here from Portland, OR. They are staying at my mother's place to help clean the apartment out. HUGE JOB! It just feels weird to be going through all of her stuff. I guess that was the point of them offering to do it so I wouldn't have to. I honestly didn't think this would upset me so much. All of her fancy clothes are being donated. HER FANCY CLOTHES! She loved some of those dresses. Of course she has lost so much weight that nothing would fit her anyway. I realized that I don't know if I would ever be ready to do it so I'm glad they offered. OMG, her favorite winter coat! Her stupid little hat that I made fun of.

Another weird thing. The broker we are using to sell my mother's apartment was in a car accident. We weren't planning on showing the place while my aunt and uncle are there. She's luckily ok.

Just a sad little thought, put aside the clothes that she would chose to be buried in. peace

Oh Marjk,
Sending you virtual healing hugs. So much of this disease catches us by surprise...Your aunt and uncle were sweet to offer their help.

VJH, great thought - one I didn't think of. These clothes would be falling off of her, literally. She was a size 2X, she's already down to a 14. I know the weight is coming off daily. Plus she has told me time and time and time and time again that she wants to be cremated. I know those are her wishes, I hope I can go through with them. Luckily I think I have a bit of time.

And yes Nessa, I am so thankful my aunt and uncle offered to do this. My aunt, who is my mother's sister in law (her brother's husband) has helped clean out everyone's house! She's good at it, actually great at it. This is how she helps. She did my grandparent's places, my great aunt's place, her own father's place, etc... It is so much appreciated.

I was just a little shocked at how blah I got. But they weren't, they expected it.

I can understand your difficulty with cleaning out your mother's apartment. My partner has been in placement since Jan.'09 and I still can't make myself clean out her 4+ closets.

It's good you have family to help.
